first off I know I cant use the tuner on my car since its an export vehicle... but ive been reading about changing the tstat on chargers.... a "180 tstat"
is it necessary to do the swap when I eventually get my predator to work?
replacing OEM Tstat... is it mandatory to do it?

you dont "need" to swap it when you get the predator to work, you only gonna have to adjust the fan settings to work with the stock tstat, i would recommend you get a 180 tstat, its cheap and you will benefit from it, plus its freaking cheap.

It's mandantory, because your engine gets heat soaked and drops performance at 200 degrees.
There's a big difference in performance and gas miliage running a 4128 which opens at 186 and runs about 188-192, and throws no codes.
And it's a very easy job. See LXFORUMS knowlege base.
The 4127 opens at 176 and runs at about 179, so sometimes needs to be pushed over the 180 mark to keep from throwing a code. I auto stick it in the cool mornings to get it over 180, then let it run at 178.
I've seen a noticable difference running 188 vs. 204, but little difference dropping it to 178 from 188.
Best bang for the buck mod out there.

Hey Mike, can you find out if future revisions will disable the code referenced above here? I have a cooler thermostat and in the winter time she'll throw a code once in a while. I'm sure I'm not the only one....
Thanks.
RE 180 Thermostat
I replaced the stock thermostat (SRT Charger) with a NAPA THM 165. I have monitored the temperature range and the best I can tell the temperature will run between 182 and 186. Sometimes a little lower or if at idle or in stop in go traffic maybe a blip to 190. I am happy with the lower operating temperature. The only other feedback I can offer is it does seem to take a few extra minutes to reach operating temperature. The part number referenced in the previous posts 4128 is a Motorad thermostat available at Autozone.
