Any update on this?? For something that was "wrapping up" in Sept ... it sure is taking a while!! I understand Diablosports desires to want to create all the new products for the new vehicles ... but if it isn't possible to support those of us that have already purchased your current products ... then how does Diablosport expect to support all the new products as well??
Sorry ... not trying to slam anyone (not too hard anyway
) as I know you guys are busy, but for some of us ... this is a very important update ... and if it is stalled indefinately, please let us know so that we can make other plans for logging our data.

P.S. Why does this thread have "Answered" written beside it?? This is an outstanding unresolved issue. Would you prefer that submit a new post asking the same question??

Sorry John ... just saw page "2" with your response and mine ...
Glad to see you are still working on it ... I just wanted to make sure it wasn't dead.
P.S. I still wish that you could keep the "Answered" Status off until the update happens ... otherwise we think you guys won't be looking at the thread any more ... and then it gets forgotten about. Seems like this is what is actually happening sometimes.

A couple of months ago I modified the DataViewer to be able to open the binary log files from the QBIC Ford Predators. You will notice that the DataViewer has appeared on your downloads page for the 7158 (and many other Ford tools) for that reason. For most Predators, the DataViewer will now auto detect and download the logs off the Predator just fine. There are a few that cannot be auto detected, and for those the files still need to be retrieved through CMR_DAT, after which a log can be opened from disk within the DataViewer.
The 7170 Ford QBIC release currently in testing supports live streaming with the DataViewer, but it can only to so because it has 512k of RAM. Older QBIC Predators produced before early 2008 cannot support this new release with the live streaming. Live streaming will (very likely) be enabled for the other QBIC Ford tools with their subsequent future releases. There are no dates on those releases, sorry. And, unfortunately, this leaves users with 128k tools stuck with CMR_DAT for live streaming.

U7158, Lightning

John,
Assuming I have good soldering skills and the appropriate 512k RAM chip is available, can the 128k RAM chip be removed and replaced with the new 512k RAM chip in my predator?

Yes you could. I don't know the chip part details, but that is exactly what we were planning to do when there was an upgrade program in discussion. Sadly the upgrade program was never put in place.

Under "Tool Info":
S/N: 2000399
Part: u7158 lightning
Version: v.9r02
Hardware: unknown
Bus:
Born:06/27/08 4057
The Dataviewer will recognize my predator, but when I select download log file, I get the meassage "... this command not supported..."
What is the problem here? Was this Predator built before 2008 based on serial number?
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Dataviewer 3.1 live data streaming Updat
Weird... this is using DataViewer 3.1.8.2? Is the message showing up on the DataViewer or the Predator?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Dataviewer 3.1 live data streaming Updat
Yes, I just loaded DataViewer 3.2.8.2 and gave it a try.
The message is showing up on the DataViewer. The predator shows "... device is under remote control ..."

I have a grasp on what is happening now, that release appears to be a hybrid of the old and new protocols. Unfortunately for the time being you are still going to have to use CMR_DAT to pull logs on that tool.
