I have a torque management parameter for the 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 shifts for the 4L70 tranny in my truck. It is adjustable from -20 to +20. What exactly does this parameter change and how does it effect the transmission behavior?
Thanks,

Torque management range in TCM....
Re: Torque management range in TCM....
It increases or decreases shift firmness for each gear change. Off the top of my head I can't remember which way is softer or firmer but it is on this forum. The 6L transmission have a WOT and part throttle options for adjustment, I'm not sure what the 4 speed transmission have available.

I also have a shift pressure range for part throttle and WOT for all the gear changes. This torque management range is a seperate item. In the 6L trannys I believe the option is just on or off for torque management.

Oh, my bad. I missread that. I haven't messed with TM, I just had Lew do his thing to it in my custom tune.

Just thought I would update this with what I have learned through some trial and error and also with Lews help looking at some files for me...
The Torque Management setting for the GM 4 speed trannys is the torque management applied during shifts. You have settings for all 3 shifts and they range from -20 to +20. Interestingly enough it appears that going negative ADDS torque management and going positive removes it. The parameter is called "torque reduction" so I suppose that means on the positive side you are ADDIDNG more torque reduction.
On the 6 speed trannys there is just an "on/off" selection.

A update to my update..... The torque reduction range now works like it should. Negative is less TM and positive is more TM.

Re: Torque management range in TCM....
So I want to jump into this conversation about torque management adjustments. I have a 2009 Silverado 1500 Ext Cab w/ the 5.3L Flex 4spd. I am wanting to make my truck to live up to its potential NOT a fast and furious ride just better all around performance and durability. I would like to know more about torque management and some of the other features on the DS Trinity that I can adjust to make it better.
Items on the truck are: K&N 63 series CAI, Magnaflow Muffler swap, and the Trinity tuner.

Re: Torque management range in TCM....
I had read somewhere else in these forums that the shift firmness is pre-set on the firmer side within the tune already and that if adjustment was desired that going (-) would be the way to start.
