2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71

Post by bmbrady77 »

Hey guys, new here. I just received my new Trinity today, and I also installed a K&N 77series CAI this morning. I'm hoping that the combination of CAI/Tuning will give me a little better response when towing in the mountains, and that I will get a little better fuel mileage when towing flat ground. I will be leaving Friday to make the trek from Louisiana back up to my home in Montana. That being the case, I have a pretty good benchmark of how the truck performed with my trailer at bone stock on the way down here last weekend. I have been filling up with 93 Octane fuel for the last 3 tanks or so in anticipation of installing the tune. As I stated, I installed the CAI and the the Diablo performance tune today. I ran the truck to 20mph then floored it to gauge the response and climb rate. I then installed the tune and ran the test again. I noticed an immediate and appreciable difference!

I am also new to tuning and such so I'm looking forward to learning everything I can about this. On that note, I'm hoping I can start with that on this thread. Here are my question(s).....

Should I make any changes in the canned Diablo Performance Tune to compensate for the CAI?

What parameters (if any) will I need to play with as time goes on, and in what manner should they be adjusted, to really get the truck dialed in to give me the best performance and efficiency possible for my setup?

Again, I am new to tuning so please bear with me if I don't understand the lingo just yet. I'll get there!!

Thank you in advance for any replies.

First off, let me thank you guys for your overwhelming "welcome to the forum" and helpful replies.

On a more serious note, I want to thank Lewis for his thorough write-ups. The DSRedux application and the accompanying write-ups put me on the right track. I installed the CAI, wrote the Diablo Tune, and then ran the log reports as instructed. After 1 quick adjustment to the injector slope, I had it dialed in right on the money. After that, the PE adjustments went just as smooth. I would assume that once I have the application telling me that no adjustments are necessary on both the cruise log and the WOT log, I can't get any better than that, and I don't need to touch it unless I change parts on the truck?

Anyway...thank you to the gurus for the extensive write ups. It made for great learning. I would also say to the mods of this site, even if the info is there for the searching, at least a "welcome aboard" and "hey, do a quick search or check out xyz thread and you'll have all the info you need" would go a long way to making people feel more confident in your site. A product is only as good as the people supporting it.

Welcome! and Thank you!

To get the best performance and efficiency for your truck/setup, you can get a custom tune done to get things dialed in correctly, and more adjustments can be made than can be done with just the tool itself.. You can get custom tuning done here: www.diablewtune.com -- www.facebook.com/DiabLewTuneGM

Thank you sir!!

I'll be back up in Montana by Sunday night. I have a feeling with the different altitude, that I'll have to go through the process again. Once I do, and get that nailed down, I may just get in touch with you to take it to the next level!
