300c SRT-8 in Australia

Post by deanodirt »

I have loaded the 93CAI but didnt feel right and not having 98 Ron fuel, best we have is 95Ron so i have used the next one down, there is no 91 loaded which i thought was odd, i was going to change the air/fuel and spark but am not to sure which way to go, it was a bit rich when it was on the dyno in townsville has anyone set theirs up and can give me some suggested settings to run and tune to use please list the settings for example air/fuel spark throttle position gear change etc

The 91 CAI tune is the right one to use. 95 RON is basically equal to 91 AKI. 98 RON is 93 AKI. If theres no 91 CAI tune on your tuner, which is possible because I don't think they include those on Export cars, install the 93 CAI tune and pull 2 degrees of timing in all 3 rpm ranges. Log that and see if there is any knock (ST and LT) and in what rpm ranges. You'll have to add fuel in whatever ranges have Knock retard, 5% at a time. Long term needs to be tuned out first, then you can deal with short term. The 6.1 Hemi is extremely knock prone, so most likely, you'll have to add quite a bit of fuel to get rid of it all.

I am still not sure what all the changes in the settings do, is there a comprehensive list of what they are and how they work? i put a stock tune in with some changes and noticed the adaptive auto will no longer go in to manual mode i went to nail it and it bogs down badly and doesn't move much i tried doing the tyre and wheel adjustment and it would not accept it.

Theres no current list that I'm aware of. What year is the car? If its pre-2011 there should be 2 or 3 transmission settings. Only one of them will work right. Its trial and error to see which one does.

Actually, I wonder if you can mix fuels like I do in the BMW to get up to 93 octane AKI. Can you get E85 Ethanol in Australia? E85 is 105 octane AKI, so mixing up like a 5:1 ratio (E20) 95 RON to E85 will get you up to 98 RON or 93 AKI.

For reference, I run about E40, or 97.8 octane AKI with 20psi boost, but on pump 93 can only get a little over 16psi before it knocks.
