F150 Dead Pedal Issue, lets fix it!

Post by adamtrop »

Hi all I have had a difficult time getting my intune to work, first off I got a calibration error this took about 30 emails to fix ultimately the device needed resetting. Now I have the dreaded Dead Pedal. After installing the 93 octane tune the truck ran great could feel the difference!! I drove home for around 15 mins. The next day I started the truck and had no throttle. Has any one tried any other tunes? (Eg 91, 89, tow) If so did you get better results?

My Truck is new and has around 1000 miles on it.
What age 3.5 ecoboost work?
What Causes the issue?

I'm going to assume that you have a 2015 F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. That's what I have, and I had the exact same issue with the 87 Octane tune. In fact, DiabloSport sent me a few other tunes to try, and still wound up getting the "dead pedal" on all of them. That was about 3 months ago. Still waiting for a fix.

i figured i would give you guys an update so you don't assume we are ignoring you. we believe the root problem is with in ford itself. i'll take an moment to explain. as some of you may or may not be aware that in ford land there can be one specific vehicle, in this case a 2015 F150 eco boost, but yet there be 15+ pcm "stratagies" whenever ford changes something in the code no matter how big or small, it shows up as a new strategy.

all of the deal peddle issues we are having (and there are only a handful) are with one specific cal ID. There is SOMETHING going on with within ford on that certain cal id as ford has released more that 20 updates to that specific strategy. They are obviously trying to "fix" something up there in good old Dearborn but we don't know what yet. we had one customer who got the newest update available and reported no dead peddle for over a week. but it did come back. so what ever ford is fixing seems to go hand in hand.

the reason that other tools are not running into this problem is the very reason why our tool is better. other brands do not take your specific cal ID, change it and put it back in. they take THEIR own cal ID (what ever they choose) and just blast it into the pcm. this alone is why our tool is the only one that cannot be detected on warranty stuff. we use your cal id and we put your cal id back. it is also why our tool makes WAY more power than any other tune and that is because we are not limited to a generic cal id limits.

he have a truck scheduled to come in later this week. once we have our hands on it and have the problem in front of us. things will progress faster.

Matt thanks for the response, explaining things in some more detail helps us consumers come to terms with the problem in hand. Should I try to take my truck to ford to get it updated? If so what reason should I give?

it certainly couldn't hurt. you could return the tool to stock (i assume you have because of the peddle). take it to ford and say that the truck seems to be running weird and request they make sure its up to date. then toss the tool back in and report back. ford is coming out with about one update a week for this particular cal id. so SOMETHING is going on. some one messed up up there and they are trying to fix it. what exactly they are trying to fix we dont know. but we find it pretty odd that while no one is having peddle issues with a stock tune (that we know of), yet ford is feverishly updating the exact cal id that is giving us fits....

Were you able to make it to the dealer? are you able to replicate this every time you install a tune? If you could give me a bit more detail, maybe make a step by step of what you do, and let me know how you end up with a dead petal that would be awesome. i

i have a truck in here now that we're working on, that has had it happen a few times, but weve written a lot of tunes to it today and not had a single issue. id just like to replicate it so we can fix it :drivingbad:

Any news on this? Been holding on to my InTune for a while hoping this issue gets fixed, but not really getting a good feeling off of this board. See more and more people reporting the problem, and see where the issue is being worked, but not seeing any results!

I called my local ford dealership this morning and they are a joke!!! I tried to ask if I could schedule my truck for a software update as I have had some issues, they said there is no such thing. I would really like to know how to communicate with them to get them to do the update for me.

Unfortunately thats a tough question to answer.
Maybe ask politely to speak to the service manager, explain to him that you KNOW there are updates specific to your truck and you would like them applied, then try the next dealer if that does not work.

this file i posted below is the correct fix file... save it to your compujter somewhere and drag and drop it to the intune drive of your computer. wait for the tool to finish updating then you should be able to plug into your truck.
