predator 5.3l vs stock 6.0l

I bit the bullet and bought an 08 Chevy 1500 Crewcab 4x4.........I didn't like the new body style when they came out, but it grew on me. I wanted to order the truck with the 6.0 in it, but would have had to wait 3 months to get the truck. I couldn't wait that long, but I am satisfied with the 5.3, it has 315 HP. Still not enough though!!!!!!! Don't know what mods I will do, I'm thinking about getting the predator again, or maybe a custom tune. Still not sure....

I agree with you on the mods, we sure waste alot of money on them, I guess smart thing would be save the money and just get a supercharger or something. Of course, that opens up a whole new bunch of crap to buy!!!!

JDeer - What mods worked for my 03 5.3 was Custom tune, Magnaflow, Air intake. Gears are another choice to get you moving depending on what you have now. My buddy has the 5.3 with the Diablo tune and borla exhaust and it runs GREAT. Flowmaster sounds good, but you'll loose low end torque. JME.

Yeah, that is about what I had on my 2004 was the tune, flowmaster and, air intake....it was very pleased with the cost vs performance.

On my 2008 I think I am going with a custom tune, Roush Exhaust, and Roush Intake. Roush makes a nice exhaust sound and air intake is actually made by Airaid, but cost less than Airaid brand name....Go Figure!!!

the lq9 is only in the caddie suv&ext and silverado SS between 02 and 04 now in 2500hds would be the lq4........... neways good to see everyone again.......

how did he beat you? get yourself some real mods and blow his ass away. you lack gears and hp to beat his truck. air intake = maybe 6-10 rwhp. that doesnt make up the 50 hp you are lacking my friend.

if the predator was bad ass enough to make up 50 hp and taller gears, i would buy three of them!!!

I have the Vortec Max 369/375 just like Steven...

I have the 3.73s though... Not sure what Steven is running...

They are a beast.. I had the 2003 1500HD with the 6.0L V8 and it was strong but nothing like the new 6.0L in the max.

If you are having trouble playing with an older 6.0L then stay away from the VMAX

So far I have the Predator as the only upgrade.. The AEM Brute Force is on the way though.

The 1500HD actually woke up a little with the AEM.. But not too much.. Thing I liked was the 1 - 2 MPG better I got with it.

My wife's truck is a 2004 Silverado Vortec High Output. ( Same as Vortec Max ). 6.0 345 hp and 380 tq. I haven't raced her since I put in the predature but with airaid cold air intake, throttle body spacer, true duels ( cats only ), msd plug wires, bosch plugs...... She smoked my ass!!!!!!!!!! I have a 2001 4.8 sportside silverado. I will race her again with the tune and this time I think I will get my ass smoked again. Them Vortec Max are bad. She also has the airaid cold air intake and throttle body spacer.

Your truck sounds mean. Imagine all that stuff on a 6.0. I had a chance to buy a 2002 HD 6.0 ( 300 hp / 360 tq ) for $1100.00.
I just figured it wasn't enough hp and tq to justify swapping motors. I plan on doing headers next.

Your Hole Shot converter and Cam would be the only thing anyone would be afraid of... Getting a good launch with a stock vehicle is the hardest thing. That holeshot would help

That little 4.8 is a Beast when fitted with the 4.10s too. I had a extended cab Sierra with the 4.8L and the 4.10s and it would scoot.
