Inexperienced Newcomers must agree it is uncomfortable tuning without any reference material.
Would some knowledgeable person please give us a brief description of each Adjustable Parameter and how it affects performance.
This would be real nice in Pdf manual form at some point.
COT- catalyst over temp-certain driving and tune settings can make the cats get hot. (or the computer THINK they are hot) this can cause the computer to start adding fuel to try and cool them off. can be a waste of fuel if not needed and can cause irregular fueling
Downshift MPH - Norm- the mph in normal drive mode that the trans will down shift at specified gear. this is global so it will rais the whole curve up or down in each gear.
this for example is what lowering it 5 mph does to the tune itself:
Downshift MPH - Tow- this is the same but when the town haul button is pushed
Idle RPM- what the desired idle speed of the engine is. can be raised up and down for your needs
Injector Slope- this is the size of the fuel injectors installed in the engine. if you change to larger injectors, this needs changed
Part throttle shift pressure- this is used to firm up or soften the the shifts when part throttle driving around town. raising the pressure makes it shift harder, lower makes it shift softer
Power enrichment-this is used to richen or lean out the air fuel ratio at wide open throttle
Rev Limit- maximum engine speed the computer will allow. be careful with this
Shift Time- this is used to detrumin how FAST the trans shifts. goes hand in hand with pressure. the lower the number the faster the shift
Spark- controls the ingition timing advance. there are usually tables for part throttle and wide open throttle.
Speed Limit- Maxium vehicle speed limit. used for tire pretection and driveshaft protection mostly
Torque Management-most auto compaies use what is called torque managment in auto trans equiped cars. what it does it temperarily reduce or cut power while the trans is in the middle of a shift. this is done mostly for driver comfort and also to reduce shocks on the hard parts of the trans. turning it of will allow the vehicle to have full power during shifts. usually makes the vehice faster and also makes the shift firmer.
Upshift MPH - Norm
Upshift MPH - Tow
Upshift RPM - Norm
Upshift RPM - Tow
Upshift MPH vs TP- these are the same as the down shift but used on the upshift. i.e. 1-2 shift 2-3 shift and so on.
WOT pressure- this is the same as the part throttle shift but only is in effect under wide open throttle conditions.
hope this helps.
