01 Mustang GT tune for 125 shot of Nitrous

Post by makskylan »

I have an inTune tuner and I am running the Diablo tune.
Here is my set up:
stock 4.6 2v
CAI
Trick Flow 75mm throttle body and plenum
3500 stall convertor
4:10 gears
2 1/2" x-pipe (no cats)
2 chamber flow master mufflers

I have adjusted the shift pressure, gear ratio, and when the fan kicks on.
I just added a ZEX Nitrous kit with the fogger nozzle. It is set up for the 125 shot.
I have NGK TR6 plugs which is 1 step colder plug gapped to 0.035.
I have it activated using a NOS wot/rpm switch coming on at 3000 rpm and off at 5100 rpm.
I have to pull some timing. Somewhere aroud 3 degrees.
Does the Diablo tune add timing to start with and if so how much.

What is the best way to get a tune that will help with my nitrous?

Yes, the diablo tune adds some timing, Id strongly suggest a custom tune for use with N2O.

How much timing does the Diablo tune add? What is the best way to get a custom tune? I believe the closest dealer is around 60-80 miles away from me. I will see if I can contact them also... Thanks

Nothing like getting an answer to a question, sigh.. From what I have found out (not from Diablo as questions and emails go un-answered) their tune adds about 2 deg. So, if you are going to add nitrous, you need to pull 2 deg for every 50 hp shot plus 2 deg for the tune to be safe. ZEX system is about the safest out there and only kicks in at WOT. So for a 150 shot for example, you would pull 6 - 8 deg from 5,000 rpm on up.

Hope that helps.

With your setup, I would start by pulling 5 deg of timing then datalog. Take a look at your AFR and see how it looks and adjust from there.

the amount added veries from cal to cal. anywhere from 2-4 degrees on the 93 tune. best thing to do is load the 93 can tune. then post up your last tune written and i'll tell you exaclty home much was added and how much you should pull
