DoD (displacement on demand, aka cylinder deactiv. system)

Post by HATEDoD »

HELP! I have a 2007 6.0 Vortec Max in an Extended Cab LTZ Silverado. The only thing aftermarket is true dual flowmasters. The problem: the DoD drives me NUTS! The sound it makes when switching cylinder mode is the most ANNOYING thing I have EVER experienced in a vehicle. And, i dont think my DoD works the way it should, it seems the sensitivity regarding when to change modes is way too sensitive. It changes RANDOMLY every couple seconds and sounds like a disgusting fart rushing through the pipes every time!!! My truck also runs very sluggish sometimes, especially up hills. Where the Fn HELL is the 367 HP and 375 Torque I paid for??? Is there something wrong with my truck specifically and is all of this changeable with the PREDATOR? :?

i think there should be an adjustment to turn off DOD < displacement on demand > in the adjustable parameters section under "modify tune". i know its there for the cars, but i am not 100% sure in trucks.... just look for it when you power up your diablo, go to "tune it", then "modify tune", and scroll through until you see anything referencing DoD.

Is the 8r10 revision something I will need to upload off the net once I get a Predator? or does that revision come with any new Predator out of the box. (sorry, I've never dealt with programmers/chips before!)

Also, even in V8 mode my truck sounds and feels sluggish alot of the time...actually, my exhaust note in V8 mode does not even sound like a V8... kind of a weird, metal in a can sound... never been proud or impressed by it.

really, if you have the funds, corsa is the best exhaust to go with, sound and performance. i am never gonna pay $250/muffler...but if you want the best, i guess you gotta pay.

i would think the flow's would sound badass on the VMAX.... i know they do on mine. i am running true dual 40 series 2.5" with an x-pipe and no cats...loud as hell, but sounds like a badass bully roaming around! this cam really talks without those cats!

I have the same vehicle as you... Which tune did you install?

Did you just modify the stock tune?

It is a parameter under performance tune, 87 oct an (what I am running) and modify tune.

Select the DOD parameter and turn it off.

Have to install the 8r10 to the predator to see these I guess. Did you get the connection cable with your predator?

If so download the new rev to your computer and use DSDownloader to update the Predator to the newest rev using the downloaded version 10 .crom file.

Then you can tune and modify the DOD parameter..

I do not have a predator yet! I was checking out the diablo because I was just told at an auto shop today that there is NOTHING I can do about that gay ass DoD mode!! I said to hell with that shit, i will rip the sonofabitch out myself if there is no quick fix! I want every last drop of the sweet power i pay for! So i guess im guna have to drop about 450 bucks on a predator. Is that how much they cost?

you can get the predator from authorized dealers for less than $450...

marylandspeed.com for example, has them for about $369...

if you have the classic body style silverado, you need a U7192...

if you have the new body style, you need a U7194...

HateDoD,

I got mine for $315.00 Shipped... I also got the connection kit for $20.00 Shipped.

So with both items it was $335.00 Shipped - two day shipping too..

The flowmaster is whats killing your TQ. R8 software also has the DOD setting allowing you to turn it off. Get Magnaflow or Corsa, Even Borla, and you'll see your Torque and HP raise with just that alone.

I'll be one to tell you with the new Vmax, The diablo works well. I've seen 1-2 mpg better and def. more power and better throttle response on 87 tune alone. I didn't see any mpg increase using the 93 tune, but the power seemed much better. I'm currently running the 87 tune with Version R8 software and it runs great.

Good luck with yours
Steven

Hey HateDOD. I too HATE and I mean HATE the DoD crap. I have exactly the same truck as you. It did the same exact crap yours is doing. I got the predator and updated it with the latest software update version 10. I used the Diablotune which is the 93 octane tune and turned off the DoD during the tune. I use 92 octane and NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. No Ping. The truck runs way way better. I still experience a slight idle miss but it was present when i got the truck.. I can live with that. I couldnt live with the stupid Active Fuel Management crap though...aka DoD. My truck runs really good now...except I still experience the uphill tugging sensation...feels like it should be downshifting but it wont without a harder pedal press to get it to kick down. I figure it is part of the crappy Torque Management system Chevrolet has on these trucks.I am waiting for Diablosport to update a tune to have better control of the TM ...I sure hope that does the trick with regards to the uphill tugging. Have had the truck in 2 dealers and both say the truck ran normal....BS! If that was normal then Chevrolet has their heads up theirs asses! I love the truck now but this will be my last Chevrolet, as I think for the dollars I spent that I shouldnt have had to deal with this crap...they have permanantly lost me as a customer in the future. I thank Diablosport for addressing the DoD with the predator....it saved me from selling the truck as I was going to do because I hated the way it ran. I hope this helps. BTW the 87 tune is okay, not a lot of difference from stock that I could tell but the 93 tune (Diablo Tune) is the shit! Night and Day difference! Diablopsort PLEASE hurry with the TM update! Thanks!
