Data cable problems
I had to get a new cable when my old PC went down. My PC is Vista and an laptop is XP and I cant get the cable to work with either one. When I try to use any of the DS programs it wont detect them they just say scanning and the data viewer never even detects a hand held is connected. The computers detect the cable, I would have to plug it up again to tel you what its saying cause I'm getting old and can't remember. So now what??? Anyone have any ideals?
RE: Data cable problems
You probably need to install the software drivers for your specific cable on your computers. Do you still have the CD that came with your cable? If not, do you remember the make and model number of your cable?

I used the disk and every thing I could find on line. Still doesn't work.johnc wrote:You probably need to install the software drivers for your specific cable on your computers. Do you still have the CD that came with your cable? If not, do you remember the make and model number of your cable?

RE: Re: RE: Data cable problems
The next step would be to try the Hyperterminal test in the help file. That would determine if your cable is at least working one-way.

I never get a message back from the Predator in the Hyperterminal test. On the Data Viewer screen it reads
Connnected Vehicle:
Searching for a connected tool...
ScanningSerial Ports
And it just sits there.

RE: Re: RE: Data cable problems
If the hyperterminal test fails, that would indicate that the problem is definitely with the cable hardware or (more likely) how the drivers were installed. When you go into your computer's control panel and into the system hardware manager, do you see an entry for your cable? What make of cable is it? I would work with the XP laptop rather than the desktop, as most cables do not yet support Vista.
