Data logging question

Post by Talerno »

Ok, I have an '04 mach 1 and the u7146 with a K&N CAI installed. I just installed a new type of spark plug (Halo's) which itself requires a little advance in the timing. What can I look at in the data logging that might be able to tell my how well my timing is set, and what would I look for? BTW I am seeing a fuel mileage increase already just on the standard Diablo tune.

Thanks!

If you go into the live data/logging section there are spark advance PIDs listed.

Spark is already advanced a little with the performance tune, so if you do advance the timing anymore, please monitor for knock/detonation.

FIXED

Seems the the tune on the Machs has a detonation issue upon tip in with the canned tune. There have been a few posts on this and I myself have experienced it. I am guessing but after my off road x pipe install it seemed to go away this might be exhaust gas temperature related (EGR). Before the off road pipe I added fuel and took timing out till there was no audible and monitored timing reduction using the Predator I wish I had a wideband installed before off road pipe. Now I dont hear tip in detonation or see timing being pulled and I had to back off the fuel to get the a/f correct. If available to you I suggest Sunoco Ultra 94 octane which allowed me to advance the total timing 6% .

I haven't had a chance to look at this yet, but when I'm logging it, what will it show if I'm getting knock/detonation?

Thanks!

You will see your timing drop due to the fact your knock sensors are pulling timing out to get rid of the spark knock. Alot of good reading to give you a better understanding. http://fordfuelinjection.com/
