Locks up backing up original.

Post by jaelliott »

I have a i2030 that I have also bought a license for my 2014 Ram 1500 5.7. Installed 87oct tune on my wife's 08 Tahoe LTZ no problem. I then went to my truck to install a tune and it get's stuck doing original backup anywhere from 5% to 61% in all my tries. I have let several of them go well over an hour. I was able to go out with my laptop and do a datalog on the viewer but I for the life of my can't get a tune loaded into my truck due to the i2 freezing up while loading a backup of the original tune. Any help would be great and much appreciated in a timely manner as I plan on taking my truck out of town later today.

Thank you.

*edit* posted a trouble ticket but figured i'd double tap here and add the info file.

It's in the first post sir. Also, this truck is used so how do I know if there was a tune already in it? The truck was a lease and appears completely stock so I assume that there was no previous tunes or upgrades in it.

Doubtful as I drove the truck to datalog just for grins and it failed every attempt after that. Furthermore batter voltage read 14v on the display the whole time during each programming event. I'll go hook my tender up to it and try again. But I feel as if that may not be the issue.

Well plate me up some crow. Hooked up the tender, set is on 2a trickle, and had no issues loading a tune. It took forever to do the backup then apply the backup through stage 1 and 2 but I finally got it done nonetheless. Thank you for the suggestion.

I took the truck out for a test run and wow did it wake the truck up. I must admit when I bought a trinity for my six speed 09 R/T Challenger I was underwhelmed. But the Diablo tune on my 14 Ram Express is amazing. Now to install my long tubes and see how much more I can scare myself in this big ol pickup.
