2000 Chevy Suburban E85?

Post by saabman.aero »

Hi;
I am new to the forum and looking around for E85 tunes for my non flex fuel 2000 Chevy Suburban 1500.
It has the 5.3 and curently is in standard OEM tune.
I was looking at your programmers like the Trinity and noticed you had some FLX7193 Tune files in your downloads page.
Would a Trinity Programmer be able to "inject" a Flex Fuel capable tune into my OEM PCM?
If so how does the adaptation work when running a mix of Gas and E85?
Thank you all in advance for answering my questions :-)
Regards

Youd need a custom tune from one of our cmr tuners to properly calibrate that application for use with E85.

Thanks

Also requires larger injectors.

Hi thanks for your reply :-) Sorry to be dumb but who are the "cmr tuners" ?

Interesting you mention this, as I have looked up and have found that the injectors used on the 2000 - 2003 pre-flexfuel models have the same injectors as the later flexfuel models... I understand your comment though as I should avoid a lean condition if the injectors happen to not be large enough...

In general I would love to be able to exchange with someone who has made a successful setup on a similar Chevy...
Thanks again for your inputs

stock lines are fine, fuel pump is fine, stop reading nonsense on the intrawebz!

Hes not trying to make it flex fuel, just wants an E85 tune, no need for flex sensor ;)

Sounds like he is trying to do flex fuel.

Also, it is possible to have a non-E85 compatible pump, where the copper disintegrates from corrosion, and the contamination can ruin the injectors. If the lines aren't stainless, they will corrode. That being said, it is possible that they already are compatible, but not guaranteed.

Also, it's an even bigger concern with flex fuel where you can sometimes have a mixture of gas and E85 that will give you ethanol ratio in between. Between E20 to E30 is the worst range for metals and even plastic. So when OEMs specify a Flex-Fuel capable system, they will typically include a test fuel in the range, along with E85 and E10.

all factory lines are stainless and plastic. have been for quite some time. pumps are fine too. change your fuel filter more often and tune. on a stock engine there is not need to upgrade anything. just run almost empty. add e85 and tune acordingly. do it all the time.

after re-reading it does sound like he was looking to do flex fuel, so yeah, thats a little tougher, but can be done as well....just takes alot more work and some custom tuning.

Hi All :D
Sorry I was slow at answering...
Yes I am looking into a FlexFuel option.
I know the "hardware" on the car is good for E85 (I have converted other cars).
What attracted me to DiabloSport is the seemingly easy operation and lightweight package it comes in.
So how would I go about programming custom tunes?
Or even getting them for that matter...
Thanks for all your support!!!
:D
