2000 Sierra 5.3 wont communicate to truck

Anybody have this issue where the predator wont do anything other than power up and boot from the OBD 2 port? unit is unlocked and wont read vehicle anything. And yes the ignition is in the ON postion

Also took my truck to local autoparts store and the scanner had no issue pulling live data and codes. so that leads me to believe its a programmer issue. any ideas?

got access to any other vehicles you can try the tool in?
