Can't Marry Trinity to 3.5l 300, SC Custom TUNE on pcm

Post by SojiaRaggs9000 »

Ok so here is my original issue:
SojiaRaggs9000 wrote:On my 2008 Chrysler 300 with a Supercharged 3.5L V6.... My DiabloSport Trinty is giving me error code message "(3) this tool is not licensed for use with this vehicle." Settings shows my vehicles vin# and last tune written was an "+ quick adjustment". Original pcm file and custom tunes are both backed up on a flash drive. Everything else seems to work fine I just can't edit or re apply any tunes.

What do I need to do to get it working again. Also as a side question..... is there a way to leave the OBD connector for the trinity plugged in without it draining my battery?
When the dealership reprogramed some modules and made it to where the Trinty wouldn't apply any tune files. I called the office and they ran me through resetting the tool. I updated the tool with the newest update 1r13h. The tool used to have the 1r13c update. Now I have a new problem. Since I couldn't use the tool to "go back to factory" its stuck with the custom supercharger tune. I do have the original pcm file and custom tunes are both backed up on a flash drive.

If I use the usb at the PC...... The tool powers up and asks for the type of vehicle. It finishes setting up and resets. After a few seconds it will boot back up and then freeze. Using the OBD connector it setup the vehicle type and restarts. Once it restarts it pops up the disclaimer page and freezes. Using the USB I did get it to go the info section and it showed unmarried. I can't finish marring the tool... it just freezes. I even tried loading in the supercharger tune using my old pcm back up.... being that its not married I cant add any files to the tool because it freezes.

What can be done? Advise?

Just noticed that you guys close @ 6pm est :normal: Anyways I got it to stop freezing and It shows the VIN now while hooked up to the OBDII. Im guessing it backed up the file that's in the PCM because it let me into the performance section and I could see the Pre-loaded tunes. So I took tool back to the PC and tried to see if maybe I couldn't upload the files I have saved. When DSDownloader is up and running the tool powers up and only shows a black screen. DSDownloader just keeps saying "Checking COM3 for Tool". If I plug in the tool with out DSDownloader running it loads to the home screen and freezes.

Thoughts?

Ill give u guys a call tomorrow more than likely either way.

OK so I called talked to a couple people over there at the office. The first guy updated my tool VIA the PC though logmein123. Ran CROM file 1r13 and then the update 1r13h. I then took the Tool out to the vehicle and finished the vehicle setup. Once it was setup I went into options and check info to make sure the version showed 1r13h which it did. I then tried to click trouble shooting and it froze. Tool restarted and I tried to click options and it froze. I took it back to the PC and reloaded 1r13 (and didn't add 1r13h). Went and hooked it up in the car and the tool loaded perfect had no freezing issues. I took it back to the PC and added the custom tune file and then back to the car I went. With the tool hooked up I went into performance section and tried to install a tune. It seemed like it was going to install but it gave me an error code (-30). It said something about the PCM original not backed up because it appeared to me a tune from the trinty. Which yeah.... since I couldn't initial apply any tunes before the reset because the tool said "this tool is not licensed for use with this vehicle". SO The custom tune is installed on the vehicle currently and has been since before the reset. SO then I called the office again and explained the situation.... I was instructed to do reinstall the 1r13h update and then to call back. Once that was done we tried to do a forced calibration update. After getting the code to give to the tech he gave me a code in return to enter into the tool. I clicked continue to go to the screen to enter the code and the tool froze. I was then told that Id have to send the tool in to be fixed. That or go to the dealership and have them flash my pcm. But I'm leery about doing that because right now the vehicle runs....

Why does it need to be sent in if the base 1r13 works but the 1r13h doesn't..... Seems to me its a software issue. If I recall correctly the tool used to have 1r13c before the rest. Is there anyway to try an older update to see if it fixes the problem?

To be honest I could care less about the tune adjustment within the tool itself. I just want to be able to upload and install custom tune files.

OR

Can you guys give me links to older DCX CROM files? Because 1r13c worked before my tool was reset. I don't see why It wouldn't hurt to try.

ALSO

If it lets me install a tune without the update... but won't install because my custom tune is currently programed into the PCM. Wouldn't adding the update (providing it wont crash) still give me the same problem with the original file not being in the PCM? Maybe that's what the forced calibration fixes? What if I have the original PSM file on my PC.... Anyway to get it back onto the tool??? Or only way to fix it is to either send it or get the dealership to re-flash the pcm back to factory?

OK so I got it to stop crashing. Its fully updated and seems to not be freezing up anymore. How do I get it to accept installing tune files now? Forced calibration?

Ok SO I called yesterday and they got me all squared away. Unit is working 100% issue free now. Once I got it to stop freezing they ran me through forced calibration and now Im good to go.

Just in case it helps someone else....... I was having problems with the dcx 1r13h crashing and freezing on my Trinity. SO... I searched these forums and found a download file for DCX 1r13f crom update and installed it into my trinity. First time I tried to install it, it failed but the 2nd time it had no issues. You just have to make sure you turn off automatic updates so that when you plug in the tool DSDL doesn't automatically over ride the update with 1r13h. I was told 1r13h didn't have any issues but searching these forums I found that to be untrue. Anyways 1r13f fixed my issue of the tool freezing.
