PCM ISSUES

Post by landemright »

Hello all, I'm Terry and I'm a newcomer. Here's my problem. A few days ago my Stepson came over and showed me his new car (2013 Dodge Challenger 5.7) and along with it he brought his Diablo Trinity. He asked if I was interested in gaining some horsepower out of my 2012 Dodge Charger (3.6VVT). Thinking he knew what he was doing I allowed him to attempt to put a performance tune in my car. After connecting the tuner and what we thought was a completed tune, the Tuner said to unplug and start car. Well as soon as I pushed the start button the EVIC said "Engage clutch and start engine". Right then and there I knew something was wrong. My car is an automatic 8 speed. My stepson said to go ahead and start it. Well guess what, nothing, Wouldn't start! So I immediately grabbed the instructions and read through them. the AH HA moment hit, I asked him if he "Unmarried" the tuner from his car.... He had no clue what I was referring to.

So long story short, shorter. Some how he managed to download all the info from his PCM into mine including my PCM showing his VIN . So after many calls and forums, I ended up having the car towed to my Dealer (Which I hated having to do) I got the call this morning that the PCM in their words is "Shot" they said they couldn't get my PCM to re-flash. They then said it would cost nearly a $1000.00 to replace the PCM. Apparently they're unable to wipe the PCM and install a new flash. They did however state they were able to reload my VIN as the current VIN, but my step sons' is in there as well. So how was it possible to even download anything into my car if the VINS didn't match? How was the tuner able to overwrite my PCM without the correct specs? Can Diablo write a tune and remotely re-flash the PCM? Or am I stuck for a grand? Please and help, ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.....This really sucks!

Well, how thi shappened is a good question, makes me wonder if the tool was in recovery mode initially, but clearly it did not read anything from your car.

Im sure we can recover the pcm here if you want to send it in, we'll charge $99 + shipping...fill out the return form on our site and provide the correct VIN for the PCM and the current mileage on the car and we'll issue an rma# to send it in.

Thanks
