NA GT reading boost, lol...

Post by Mayhem »

Hey guys. I just have a quick question. I just got a used I2020 and updated it. I went into the advanced tuning options and used the 93 octane tune. I did not modify any of the parameters tho. I looked thru them but I didn't change anything as I'm not ready for all that just yet. SO everything uploaded to the ECU fine. I checked the vehicle info to make sure the VIN number matched and it all looked fine. I checked the LTW and it was the 93 octane fuel. So on start up it sounded great and a 2 mile test drive had me smiling ear to ear. But I noticed in my car's gauge screen it kept reading boost. I didn't even go WOT. I went quarter throttle and it was reading up to 0.8 psi. How is this possible? The most a NA engine should be able to do is 0 vacuum at WOT. Is the gauge reading incorrectly or something? And is this a normal thing for the gauge to read with a tune? It has never done this before BTW. And also, the only mod to the car is an Airaid CAI. Thanks for your help.

i assume this is a new mustang that has the factory vac/boost gauge?

obviously you are not in boost NA as you figured. the map on the car is calculated. it more than likely is seeing the extra air flow and thinking it is in slight boost. or also depending on elevation it might had relearned a baro reading. either way nothing to worry about at all.

Nothing to be concerned with. The VCT sometimes does that
