I have been reading numerous reply's to threads tonight. Should I have given my 87 tune more time to be learned by my 2007 Tahoe before uninstalling? I get little to no KR at WOT, but alot of ping and KR under light to high load at lower RPM. The ping is very loud with the 87 tune using 1/3 to 3/4 throttle in 3rd and 4th gear.

i would say no.... from what i understand, the only adjustments your PCM need to "relearn" is injector slope adjustments..

all your PE settings (fuel/spark) should change at the time you adjust them or reflash the PCM with the tune. the 87 tune doesnt advance timing very much, if any over stock timing.... i couldnt see there being a lot of KR with that tune?

i would get some better gas and give it another shot.

wow.. shouldn't get that, especially with only the 87 octane tune...

what kind/brand of gas are you using??

All the gas around my area (houston) contains 10% Ethanol...is that bad for the tuning/pinging/knocking/performance?

i dont know about the % mixture you could get away with...all i could say would be to monitor for KR and see for yourself....

what do they rate the octane at with the ethanol mix?

87 I believe. I usually buy gas at the Shell station... exxon is noticeably better you think?

JUST PURCHASED MY U7194 PREDATOR FROM CONCOURS DIRECT!!!! PAID 40 BUCKS TO HAVE IT OVERNIGHTED ALONG WITH THE PC INTERFACE KIT. TOTAL WAS ONLY $375! I'M MORE EXCITED THAN A FAT QUEER AT A GAY COWBOY RODEO!

Shell = SHIT gas!! worst gas you could use, besides no-name brands...

used to use shell myself, till I had all kinds of KR... I switched to Mobil 93, and voila!! after a tank or so, virtually all gone!

don't EVER use shell gas...

gas brand makes a big difference...

you need to use Mobil, Exxon, Sunoco, Amoco, or BP....

Wow! okay thanks... that REALLY sucks convenience wise...theres shells very close to my house, exxons and mobils, not so much! but hey if it really does make a difference I will switch. I cant believe Ive been using shell PRIMARILY for 8 years... the lifters in my 2001 gmc 4.3 were completely shot when I sold it... wonder if that has anything to do with it. (i dont know shit about engines obviously)

I think of all the stations listed there is like one BP station here. Somewhere far enough away that I do not remember where just know I have seen it

We have the luxury gas here.. Conoco, Shell, 7-11 (most are Conoco), Western (way bad gas), Phillips, and a BP somewhere. Nearly all Amoco stations died a couple years ago.

Here is an update after using Google maps...

I missed Diamond Shamrock, Texaco, Sinclair (eeeewww), Sams Club and Costco.

Our BP/Amoco Stations are 40 Miles north and 40 miles south...

Go to maps.google.com and type in "Gas stations, city, state" without the "" and with the city and state replaced of course

Interesting to find places you have not seen yet.

Let's say I get my diablo, install the out of box diablo 87 tune and turn DoD off. And then I hear knocking or pinging... Can I make all else back to chevy stock tune WHILE keeping DoD off? is that possible? and, will I lose the factory diablo 87 tune forever?

you can alter factory tune, alter the 87 tune, or alter the 93 tune, none of them dissappear
