New with questions

Post by Ladiesman »

Hey all,
I have had a Trinity for almost a year now and pretty much haven't used it for much other than disabling the DOD. Recently I installed full length header and a full exhaust with Flowmaster super 44's on my 2007 Chevy Avalanche. Now I am running into tuning troubles; only runs decent after warmed up it wont run other than idle when cold. Runs lean even with the 40% increase in power enrichment. Should i delay the timing to resist detonation ? Any tips on tuning ? Are there dyno tuners in the Massachusetts area ? I dont know how much these modules can really do so any help would be awesome. Thanks

it shouldn't run rough and should idle just fine.. sounds like you have an issue/problem with your header install..

You need to check the air intake, headers, and exhaust.. shouldn't be that lean...

check the air intake, make sure it's all fully connected/together, and that all clamps/bolts from air filter to throttle body are all TIGHT so no air leaks anywhere...

check the headers and retighten all bolts, make sure all TIGHT so no air leaks..

check header connection to exhaust and the whole exhaust system itself, make sure all bolts/clamps are TIGHT so no air leaks anywhere...

Make sure all breather hoses and vacuum lines are all connected where they should be...

Make sure the front O2 sensors are fully installed, and that they are connected to their wiring harnesses, and that the wiring is not bent, broken, burned, melted...

and you'll need a custom tune for that setup, in order to have the fueling/airflow adjusted correctly, have the necessary trouble codes and related items disabled, etc etc..

you can get a custom tune done from www.diablewtune.com

Yea everything is tight. I did notice i had some parameters changed, and ive been tweaking them to get it reasonably good where it runs without bogging down or cutting out.

Before I had the p.e wot +20% in all 3 ranges.
I also had the spark advanced a bit, and the inj slope was +40%

Since then, i have the p.e. +16
The inj slope at -16
And the timing at +5

Seems to run decent, i havent been recording logs because Diablosport isnt kind enough to make Mac compatible software..im sure with that id be right on track.

What can be disabled that i dont already know about ?
Is there a dealer mode or something Diablosport locks everyone out of ?
I disabled the AFM, which was the reason i bought the trinity

I have an 07 Chevy 5.3L 325ci
With Volant CAI, full length headers, no cat Y-pipe, to a 3" to a Flowmaster Super 44 to dual 2.5"

It breathes great now just need to dial in the tuning.

What can Diablew do that i cant?

yep, like mike said.. I have access to the whole tune file with the tuning software, not just the limited options that you have with using the tool itself.. and you can not disable trouble codes with the tool itself.. you have to get a custom tune done for your mods in order to have everything done correctly.

no.. CMR is diablosport's tuning software, for custom tuning.. that only dealers/custom tuners have..

on that cd is trinity software you need - DSDownloader, DataViewer programs.. but it's Windows only..

diablo's software is all Windows only, so you can't use them on your MAC.. which means you can't get a custom tune done.. you'd need to have a Windows PC or laptop in order to use any of the software necessary for importing/exporting tune files, data logs, etc..

Ok what about dyno tuning and also tuning after serious mods are done like a cam or a supercharger ?
Does the diablosport have the parameters to tune this extensively ?

you'd need to take it to a shop to get dyno tuned for mods like that.. as long as the shop uses diablosports CMR tuning software, they can use your trinity to load tunes.. if they don't use CMR software, then no, can't use the trinity.. they'd be using different software.
