2009 GMC Sierra - Tried Tune - Completely Dead Now (SOLVED)

Post by Rhoderman »

I bought a DiabloSport inTune i2 and just received it tonight.
I plugged it in to my PC and did an update. All seemed well. The only issue was that it complained about wanting to scan and fix the removable drive. I skipped that based on what I had read here.
I went out to my truck and plugged the unit in.
It sat for a while, and then the screen came on and said to turn the key on. I did.
It came on and I went into the tune mode.
I did an 87 octane tune and wrote it. While it was connected and writing, it kept flashing "SERVICE 4WD" and "BACKUP ASSIST DISABLED". I don't know why.
It completed, and then I went back in to turn off the AFM/DOD and I thought I was successful.
Upon unplugging it, I turned the IGN off and then tried to start the engine. Nothing was happening. No crank, no click, just a few icons in the dash like traction control and a check engine light and probably the seatbelt warning. No dash lights or any automatic headlights or anything.
I then reflashed back to the original settings, but still nothing.
I can't turn on any inside lights, didn't try headlights, but they didn't come on in auto mode.
The remote is no longer functional.
I can't lock the doors except with the key.
What happened, and how do I recover from this fiasco?
Thanks for any help, and I'm in panic mode right now.
I just bought this truck 2 weeks ago, 107K miles.
I thought this was going to be easy...

Just went out and tried disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes. No help.

Power windows do work with key on.

No interior lights work.

Headlights do work, just not auto headlights apparently.

It says "PARKING ASSIST OFF", not disabled.

Power Door Locks inop still.

Radio works, as well as AC module.

The gauges all read zero. Fuel, and volts should be higher. Oil and temp are probably zero, but can't tell for sure since it won't even start.

Help??

Follow Up:

Something had indeed gone wrong with my tune. I still don't know what, but I just got my truck back. I had it towed to a GMC dealer and they messed with it for a few days. I really do believe if they had just reflashed the ECM and TCM all would have been well, but they wanted to do it "by the book". I have an extra vehicle so I didn't rush them.
They said the BCM was "crashed" as was the Fuel Pump Module. They reflashed the modules and it all came back to working. I didn't lose anything, mileage, mpg, remotes, etc. The one thing that they did do that I really wanted in addition was to disable the door locking function. I'd like to lock my doors when I want to, and now I can do that.
I will call Garrett and attempt to go through the process with him on the phone in case something goes bad again. I will likely drive to the GMC dealer and be sitting in their parking lot before my next attempt, which will probably be on Friday or over the weekend.
Garrett said he'd help me reset my module and we'd go from there.
I won't give up.

I really really do appreciate Garrett's assistance, both over the phone and via email. He said they stand behind their product and would pick up the cost, which I think is simply amazing. I would strongly recommend this tuner to anyone, knowing how well they stand behind their product.

The cost was $60 for diagnostics, and they said they spent several hours, although some of that time was disconnecting and waiting several hours for it to reset to no avail. There was an additional cost of $100, which was for reflashing one or more modules, no matter how many. I think they reflashed two.

Thanks again Garrett! You are #1 in my opinion, and you've earned a customer for life as well as any recommendations I can give. Truly a class act! And truly a top notch company to deal with!!

Its odd, as we dont even talk to the BCM, so I cant see how the tune or tuner could have caused a problem there, but we'll get you going.

Garrett walked me through a quick tune and modify yesterday. All went very well, and no problems with anything that can't be overcome with a bit of tweaking (or better gas, heh).
I have a slight WOT ping right before it shifts, so Garrett suggested I collect some logs and we'll figure it out.

I think when I was doing my first time tune, I selected Easy Tune instead of Advanced. Garrett had me select Advanced. I'm not sure that's it, but that's the only thing I recall that wasn't the same as what I had tried.

My first tune also went through the read and write steps, but nothing was stored on the device when I checked. Is it possible Windows locked the drive from writing when I did my update? I'm running W7. Garrett had me do a reset, so that may have been cleared before my next attempt.

I'll go look for the files and if they aren't there, you'll be the second to know. :D
