GM Trucks - Catch Can

Post by DrDan »

I hope this topic is appropriate for this forum and hasn't been posted elsewhere,
and I missed it.

2014 - 2016 GM Trucks, 5.3 engine.

Catch can.....necessary?

Will it extend engine life? Will it help with performance?

You read about the direct injection and the PCV system and how the
moisture and oil are directed back into the intake. With no fuel to
wash it down, so to speak, the mixture gets stuck to the intake valves.

A catch can is supposed to "catch" that mix, and then you can get rid of it.

Anyone here really know if this is true, or false?

If it is false, and the PCV system will work just fine,
then so be it.

If it is true, that a catch can is necessary, then does anyone know
which catch can system would work best for our GM trucks?....and
Does it affect the tunes from our DiabloSport-i2 if installed?

So, if a good catch can can't hurt...
What are the brands of "good" catch cans recommended?

Hey Mike...maybe you guys should make a catch can system for Chevys

Im not intimately familiar with the available options for GM trucks. We make a nice can with brackets/hoses specific to HEMI applications but the can itself would work great.
