I guess my point is, the dealer will void your warantee and I guess that is where the risk is. Luckily one of my best friends works for a dealer and I can get the re-flash whenever I want but others will not be so lucky.

I just want to say I am very happy the dialbo. And I will be buying a new predator. But dialbo should show some love. By that I mean its pretty clear that my car has been programmed. So when I buy a new one I have to have the computer rolled back to stock. Now its not dialbos fault that my unit got stolen. But for the price of now 2 units $800.00 plus, custom tunning $200.00 and the dealer cost. Not to mention the so called black list they could put you on. Dialbo should be of some help thats all. Lucky for me I do have what I would call a very ggod dealer! The mechanics work for a speed shop part time doing alot of the mods we all hear about on LX's. So I will pay the dealer fee. But alot of guys DONE HAVE COOL DEALERS! And here is where dialbo should be able to come up with a way to help us in the event we do lose the programmer. I feel that when you purchase a REPLACEMENT programmer you guys should be able to help get the car back to stock. You guys are great at diablo and have from what I have seen been able to make changes in the programmer and programming when the requset have been reasonable. And I feel that this is a reasonable request for the tech department to look into in the event of a programmer loss.

That was a dumb statement....fordomatic69 wrote:WOW... IMO... that is a design flaw of the highest order. In the event that your prescious Predator breaks or stops working, there is no way to restore the stock tune? This should be priority one to get rectified or Diablosport might someday find itself on the receiving end of a pretty big lawsuit (even if they win, it could be an expensive lesson for them).mikel wrote:Nope, the only option is a reflash and a new Predator...
Thanks
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Stolen Predator
I could Be wrong but for every year of production there are more than just a few stock files, should Diablo keep a library for just a couple of stolen or broken predators ? The same would have to apply to SCT and superchips.
Re: Stolen Predator
What is the point of being able to "back up" your stock tune file on something other than the Predator if the back up is useless? Can the factory original backup in the Predator be overwritten or erased by accident? That seems like the only time that having the ability to reload the OEM tune would apply. Back ups are usually made in case of emergencies and having the Predator stolen or malfunction seems like an emergency.mikel wrote:Nope, the only option is a reflash and a new Predator...

RE: Stolen Predator
You would know a dumb statement, wouldn't ya sunshine? The point of my post was to bring to the foreground what some people might try and do if their predator is gone, for whatever reason.... not just stolen.... things break. If you knew anything about computers or electronics, you would know that data corruption is more common than you think. So what are you gonna do when your programmer breaks, you can't restore the stock tune, your dealer blacklists you from anymore warantee work and there is some serious car malfunction (non computer related) which NORMALLY would be covered under warantee but because you modified your engine, your computer, the entire warantee is VOID...crf450rr wrote:That was a dumb statement....fordomatic69 wrote:WOW... I think he meant without the dealer having to reflash the computer first. I agree on that point. If the dealer can simply reflash the PCM, the Predator should be able to also. I understand it's probably a protection thing for Diablo, but I think that you should be able to restore your stock tune if you saved it on the PC and purchase a new Predator device. I'd be willing to pay a service fee to send a backup copy of my stock tune into Diablo on a CD, USB key, email, or something and have them program a new Predator with my info in it so that I can return it to stock. It's a win-win situation for everyone. There is. Like Mike said, a dealer reflash and then apply the new Predator.

I realize it is a risk of warranty loss that we take by doing this ourselves, but there should be some other recourse over taking it to the dealer and having your warranty voided.
Thanks for a great product, it makes my Charger perform the way the commercials portray it.

While I agree that it's impractical to have Diablosport have one of every possible stock tune, I believe that there should be a way for each end user to save the stock tune data to a computer, flash drive, etc., and be able to reset it, with the intervention of Diablosport. Theft is unlikely, but the reality is that eventual programmer failure is a real possibilty. If nothing else, once the end user has proven theft or failure of a registered Predator, why can't Diablosport sell him a new one with the original stock flash installed, as supplied by that end user? It can't be that difficult. Can it?

People call me OCD because I check things mutiple times and verify they are right. Tune the car at home, place the tuner in the house, dont leave it in the car, lock the car 100% of the time when you are away from the car, check, chek, check and re-check. If they take it from your house, they will probably take other items as well and the programmer will be your least consern, plus homeowners insurance will cover -deductable. (Or renters insurance)
I work with comptuers, and I tell people backup the backup, that backed up the backup. I would ask DiabloSport, is it possible to backup the backup. Could we backup the files from the programmer to the compuer via the usb port, then if the programmer got broken, failed, someone took it, etc. we could then copy the backp back in. That way we would not need to involve the dealership.
