So I did a quick 5mph to we won't say what speed run and got off it and back to the speed limit. Look in the rearview and see headlights moving up rather quickly. Didn't look like a cop car, so I figured it was someone perhaps wanting to catch up to race.. but no. It was a cop/hwy patrol car.
So I've got the predator on the passenger seat... on and logging.
They look at it and ask what it is - I told them it was a diagnostic tool and tell them the car has been running rough and detonating and I was logging the engine data to see what the problem was. Which was true -- it's not pinging but the EGO reading is high.
His partner pokes his head in and says "that's one of those speed tuners -- for adding HP" . So I showed him the screeen that had all the diagnostic data and said "nope, diagnostic tool". He then mentioned how long it took them to catch up to me. Making small talk as his partner ran my license,, I asked how fast he thought I was going "well in excess of 80mph!" Funny thing, I was thinking at the time was "if he only knew that the predator logs mph.."
They did a quick scan with the flash light to the eyes to see if I had been drinking (hadn't) and ran my license which is clean - haven't had a ticket since 94' in my old 90GT. Came back, gave me back my drivers license and said "don't do that my highway again..." So thumbs up to the highway patrol and Diablo.. I don't think they were going to give me a ticket regardless, but the little prop certainly didn't hurt
Still seeing a lambda equiv ego max of 1.050 which is a little lean. Granted it's not a replacement for an A/F meter, but it's a decent indicator I think. Oddly, it hits that at WOT in 3rd gear @ ~3000rpm -- at 5500-6000 it's in the .980 range.
How much fuel should I add in the 2-4K range? I suppose I could back the timinig off a little, but with the 3.31 gears and living in LA, a lot of driving is done in the 2000-4000rpm range and it was real sluggish down there pre-diablo. With the stock 91 octane tune it was a lot better, but even stronger now with some of the tweaks I've made to that.
