non-stock tune in PCM, Updater and wifi issues as well

Post by mattymaxima »

I started having alternator issues in my 2007 300C as of a week ago or so. It appears that the tuner has saved a performace tune under "recovery" mode to the PCM. I am not exactly sure how this happened but assume the power loss and I2 asking to install stock tune which was unsuccesful, are to blame. I am having these 3 issues currently.

1) PCM currently has a tune other than stock on it while the tuner has no tunes on it. All 4 lights (ABS/etc) are on when vehicle is started and no codes are being thrown but it is in "limp" mode and disconnecting the battery for over an hour and/or the removal of fuses 11, 14 & 16 have made no difference and thus did not reset unit. How do I get the stock tune back in there?

2) I am unable to update via I2->Updater.. I get a "There are multiple root elements XML.. 2nd object, 2nd line." error message when I try. Which leads me to..

3) If I try to update internally through the I2's wifi config page it freezes if I hit Wifi Setup or Connection Info. This is when it is attached via USB to laptop but does it regardeless of whether laptop is connected to internet or not.

Can someone help me please...?

Info XLM attached. I2 bought brand new from Amazon last month and has only been on my vehicle.

Thanks

the device is not asking for an update, please try again in the car and click ok/yes when it says to check for an update, then run the updater or post a new copy of the info file here.

Thanks

Yes, it shows the VIN and the tuner does allow me to tune the vehicle BUT the original backup that it saves does not appear to be the stock flash.

Post the new info.xml file here please.

So it appears that the tire size was incorrect in the quick adjust portion on the original backup and i dont know how that even happened as i didnt even know you could adjust those on the backup.
I am experiencing 2 new issues though.

1) MDS option still shows on and is physically on even after I disable it via tuner.

2) Both mode 1 and mode 2 on autostick are shifting automatically. Mode 2 used to work properly before.

3) should traction control have a star next to enabled/disabled as when i disable it neither option is highlighted/starred still.

please post the backup and last tune written files from the device.

The quick adjust changes are not identified with an asterisk.

ok do i need a calibration update from you then because i can feel it kick in on decel around 15-20 mph? And why is the autostick not functioning properly? The stock tire size on the tunershows 26.50" when clearly this isnt the case. a lot seems wrong with this and ive been trying for over a week just to get a good solid tune in...

So still not getting any help here like everything is just fine or something when clearly there is an issue with the CalID or something.

Symptoms
1) MDS screen shows *ON, and the MDS does kick on, whether on backup or any other tune even though I set it to OFF. Doesn't matter how many times I try to change it whether I modify parameters when installing or tune or after plus reboot.
2) Get vehicle not supported about 1/3 of the time I try to make changes and/or install a tune.
3) Vehicle randomly goes into limp mode including immediately after loading a tune 25% of the time.
4) Tuner reboots randomly about every 20 mins regardless if the engine is on or not.
5) Tire size shows 28.0" when restoring backup It shows 26.0" when resetting the quick adjust settings. I have OEM 225/60/18's which should be 28.50" (28.63") correct?

Vehicle information settings in tuner that appear incorrect
1) Shows a date of November 2015. Not sure what this refers to as I purchased this new in November of 2016.
2) PCM shows 05150186AEke350. (05150186AE) is listed as a TCM in the Mopar Computer Calibration manual. CalID is 05094816AJ which IS listed as a proper calibration ID for a 2007 5.7L LX in the calibration manual.

So to me it looks like either the factory PCM needs flashed or I have an incorrect CalID issued through the ITune. I do NOT have any codes nor CEL when restored to back to OEM PCM so CalID seems more likely at this point.

Thanks

the cals are correct, I don't understand where you are deciding something is incorrect there. If you feel there is incorrect programming in the vehicle best bet is to get a dealer to flash it.

You say the device reboots, are you driving around with the i2 plugged in? Are you logging when this happens?

As for MDS, I have not seen another case where it is clearly disabled inthe tune and the customer says it is still on, so we need to look further into it.

Hi Mike,

Well...I2 had 2 group updates this morning. Vehicle is now "O" instead of "N" and honestly it works perfectly thus far. I will let you know if anything rears its head again. BTW the tuner would randomly restart whether engine was on or off and whether set to record data or not... Cable is tucked away neatly behind panels/carpet with no kinks etc.

Oh, one thing. The tuner still freezes when hitting any of the Wi-Fi screens. : /
