2004 GTO Shift Firmness?

Post by jlb32 »

Hello everyone,

I got my DiabloSport Intune i2 today and did the '93 Octane tune on my 2004 GTO. One thing I was wanting to do was change the shift firmness. I would like shifts to be quicker and slightly more firm than stock. When installing, all the tuner asked was if I wanted to change the gear ratio. I hit "NO" on that and never got the option to change anything else.

Is there a way to change the shift firmness or do I need to click "YES" on the gear ratio question to get to other options?

I also have 18' inch tires over the stock 17's but never got to that option to change either??

Also was wondering how much torque management the '93 octane tune removes? IMO the stock torque management really holds back GM vehicles.

Can I go back in and change those parameters with the '93 octane tune already installed? Is it ok to write over a tune that is already installed?

From my own experiences yes you can. No need to return to stock to change parameters.

Thanks. Does the '93 Octane tune for the 2004 GTO's offer parameters to adjust the shift firmness and tire size?

Only option I received when tuning was about "gear ratio" and when I hit "NO" on it no other options came up.

Thanks!

Does going back in and modifying items in the "Advanced" tuning mode cancel out the '93 Octane tune I've already done?

Really wish they included a good instruction manual in the box with these.

Thanks for the help! Still trying to learn as much as I can about the I2.

Does the 93 Octane tune cause the fans to come on sooner? Mine seem to come on way more now than when stock.

Just wondering and wanting to make sure the tune isn't causing my car to run hotter than normal. All my GTO has is the dummy stock temp gauge.

Thanks again!

Now I'm just wondering if the 91 or 93 Octane tune is better? I haven't logged if I'm getting KR with the 93 tune but I have heard many prefer to run the 91 tune with 93 octane gas. They say it gives more HP and torque. Not sure if that is true or not?

So how much pressure should I add to the shift firmness? I would like firmer shifts but do not want to mess up my stock transmission.

it's personal preference man.. no right or wrong answer for that.. adjust it until you like it.. as long as it doesn't SLAM/BANG into gear, you're fine.
