E85 HP gains

Post by dirtymarcus »

Just bought the i2, mainly for the DoD removal but went ahead installed the E85 tune since that all I run and a tcm tune. Curious as to what power gains this tunes sees to the wheels, if any? Looking forward to playing around with this some more too.

Cool, I figured they were pretty decent. Definitely feel a big difference in response, shifting, and power. Feels like a whole new truck!

I installed the Diablo Tune with E85 already in the tank. I dont feel much of a difference over the stock E85 tune.
I assume once you tune it, the default is looking for regular octane. Will it learn it has E85 and adjust?
I drove 260 miles with the Diablo Tune and never felt a gain over stock E85.

The shifting in the stock E85 is fast and quick. THe Diablo Tune shifting feels more sluggish. What can I do to make the Diablo Tune shifting perform better?

Do I need to put 93 in the tank with the stock tune then tune to the Diablo Tune? Was hoping for a great gain but not seeing any benefit from the I2030. The 89 fuel works quite well on the 87 Tune. I was hoping to get the most out of E85. Its almost $1.08 cheaper than 93. $0.68 cheaper than 89.

I'm running it on a 2015 GMC Sierra All Terrain. 4x4. 1.5" level with stock sized AT tires.

everything we tested showed big gains with E85, but it matters if its actually E85, lots of local places that have been tested are as low as E50, so that could be the issue.

I would think that if the fuel was only E50 the truck's standard tune wouldnt perform well either. It runs like a beast with the E85 and the stock tune.
After reading the "Lew Tune" topic over on the SilveradoSirerra forums, I'm pretty pumped to get the Lew Tune anyway! Some pretty darn good testimonials there and here.

The 87 Tune is performing quite well today. On my second day and about 165 miles so far on this tune.

I was told by another person that you cannot tune the Diablo Tune with E85 in the tank. The tune starts out looking for regular octane. Could that be the issue? Do I need to start the tune with some 93 in the tank and let it detect the next tank of E85?

Thanks!!

I'll leave the 87 Tune in and switch to E85 on the next fill up and see how it goes. The shifting in the 87 feels better than the Diablo Tune so I'll stick with that for now.

Thanks!

Went with the LewTune and it is amazing. Way better than the stock tunes, He doesn't tune for E85 but the factory gains still work and the shfting in his tune is a perfect match for the E85.

I run 89 octane now and it runs fantastic. above 20Mpg consistently on my 37 mile trips to work.
