trying to update Predator U7194

Ok, the current version of my Predator U7194 is v.9r03. I have downloaded the DS Downloader onto my desktop computer (windows vista) and have been trying to update the firmware to what I could find as the current version of 9vr31. I have been following what directions I could find online and keep getting this error message about 1/3 of the way through the packet transfer:

ERROR
I did not see the selected serial port.
Is the tool connected?
Is the serial port selection correct?
Is the tool powered up and waiting at the main menu screen?

At the same time the tool went from displaying "installing bootloader" to now says "The application is missing or corrupt."

I have exhausted the troubleshooting section of the update manual. The baud rate for the com4 port is correct 115200. Have tried several times and can't seem to get it to update. Any help or what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

sounds like a bad cable?

or if it's an early 7194, it will not update to the 9r31 anyway.. the update file is too big for the early 7194's. . you can only go up to 9r10...

The cable is brand new.

It is an older U7194 I believe. Is there a way to upgrade the memory inside the programmer, ie. opening it up and installing a higher memory SD card?

Also, I don't mind upgrading it only to the 9r10 as long as it will make it to work for my 08 Pontiac G8 GT. Can I get some direction as to where I can get the 9r10 file?

did you try loading the 9r31?
Id try that, if it dont work try this one here.
No way to upgrade memory in those old tools...
