Unlocking U7198 1.03 version?

I have an 02 Z28 that I have gone to a dyno tune (HPTuners). I did not restore the stock tune before having the dyno tune done. I would like to unlock my Predator so we can use it on my sons 02 Z28. Is my only option to have someone with a tuning program download my current tune, use the Pedator to restore my vehicle's stock tune and than upload my current tune back to my vehicle? Once unlocked does the Predator need to be sent back to Diablosport to be able to be used on another vehicle?

that needs to be sent back into diablosport to be unlocked, AFTER you restore the original backup to your car first...

I talked to a lady (did not get her name) at Diablosport yesterday about this issue. She told me that I did not have to send it back, to be able to use it on another vehicle, as long as I unlocked it from my vehicle. I was surprised by her answer, so I asked her again and she confirmened it. Was she wrong?

sounds like it was Christina... she's mainly a Ford girl, but is learning the GM ropes... yes, she was wrong this time around...

a U7198, if it's on a 1.XX revision, it will not unlock after the original backup is restored - it must be sent back to diablosport to get unlocked.

Correct, the 1.XX revs do not unlock without coming here.

What would the charge be for that? Would that also include updating the tuner to the latest version?

i think they charge $100 if you dont have the receipt, i could be wrong though.

if you have the sales receipt showing that you are the original purchaser of the predator from an authorized dealer, send them a copy of that along with your shipment - and there will be no charge to you for the update.

if you don't have the receipt and/or can not prove that you are the original purchaser of the predator from an authorized dealer, then it will cost you $99 to get it updated.

you will also need to fill out the RMA Request Form to get all that started...

yes - it will all be covered free if you have a receipt as mentioned above...

if you do not have a receipt as mentioned above, the $99 fee will still cover it all.

there is a text box on the form where you describe your issue - "Description of Problem"... so tell them you need it unlocked and also need it updated to the latest revision.

I have a receipt for it from Pro Street Tuning out of Parkersburg IA. I bought it 9/21/2004. Will that work?

It is possible they were authorized a few years ago, and not now, but we cant hold that against you.

Sounds good Thanks. So, to have it unlocked and updated, I would have to pay for shipping both ways? What would be your shipping charges?

you ship it out however you want... take it to your local UPS or FEDEX dropoff station and pay whatever it is to ship it...

I THINK diablo will send it back to you on their dime.... not 100% sure tho... but I would think so...
