How to modify canned tunes with intune i2?

Post by 2010 300c »

Hi All,
I received my intune i2 on Friday, installed the updater that was in the intune folder (it was not Ignition - I did install that and tried updating through that program and the intune said my vehicle was not supported (2010 300c AWD, 5.7), so I re-updated through the updater program found in the intune and now my car is supported and the intune is up to date).

I plugged the intune into the OBD port and it prompted me to do the calibration - went smooth and no problems. I was able to install the 91 CAI tune without any problems at all, and the backup went smoothly and quick. I was able to reset the TCM adaptives, but couldn't/didn't alter anything else yet. Took the car out for a quick run to see if there was any difference - I feel there is - car seems more responsive (pulls like hell above 40MPH :D) and a quick 0-60 run using the EVIC shows about a 0.5 sec improvement - a small chirp of the tires and the AWD kicked in (I know there is more potential for improvement as my car is mechanically bone-stock for now with the exception of a sort-of CAI - removed the intake silencer and have a tube with a cone filter placed near the lower grill vent - kind of like a cheap-o true cold air fender intake).

My question is: I've tried to modify the installed 91 CAI tune (increase the throttle response up to 20 and increase shift firmness) and when the tune was being written (key off and key on a few times, progress bar goes to 100%), it finally says that writing the tune failed. It goes into recovery and re-installs my stock tune with no problems. I then re-install the 91 CAI tune, again, with no problems. I tried doing all that twice with no luck - so I'm still running the 91 CAI tune.
While so far I am very happy with the 91 CAI tune, I'd like to play a little with the options (especially the throttle booster - all I really want is more low end grunt, not interested in top speed really - at least not a this point - it's my daily driver although the next planned mods will be exhaust).

Any ideas as to what I should do or try?

Thanks for the help.

Edit: I'm posting the xml file, just in case it helps...

Just a follow up.
Was able to modify the canned tune - read the manual, returned to the stock tune, plugged into my computer, updated i2 with Ignition program, plugged i2 into car, selected 91 CAI tune, adjusted the throttle response to 20% and installed the modified tune with no problems. :D
Thanks to Amber and Mike for the help!
