i3 says 2014 Challenger RT not supported

Post by catman50 »

I bought and just received the i3 tuner. I updated it immediately via my computer, downloaded an installed. I have a 2014 Dodge Challenger RT. I searched the message board and found where someone else experienced the same thing and the advice was to check the Help About ? and ensure the device was communicating with the i3 tuner. It wasn't, so I kept trying the connections and finally I see the VIN number in the info of the i3, yet I still get the message when I try tune the car "This vehicle is not supported and may need to be updated"

What do I do now?

its asking you to use ignition to update to get the file needed for the vehicle.
Do that or posy the info.xml file here please.

Right, and as I said in my post, I updated it immediately after opening the package using Ignition. What I am finding, and based on my experience with inTune two versions ago, is that the device and software is clunky and takes multiple attempts until it finally works. As an example, I kept plugging it into my computer to check for updates and after the 5th time it simply said it was Up to date. Then, I enabled wifi and connected to my wireless network, and guess what, it started updating again! Huh? AFter it said it was updated by plugging into the computer using ignition it said it was up to date.

After going wireless connection, oh boy, it started this dreaded "Please Wait..." wow, and did I ever. Because I love the product and I do know you guys support it well, I endured a long, long wait, then unplugged it, plugged it back in, and let trying to get it to complete.... hours later I finally disconnected my wireless lan because the only thing it would do was connect and go "Please Wait...".

I plug it into my car and then it asked to performed a Calibration Update, which I did.. oh no, did I blow my warranty now? It didnt back up until after this step, then I updated using the tune...

Yes I got the tune installed but a calibration update was done before backing up, is this an issue I need to resolve before going back to the dealer on Monday? Yes, I plan to restore the backup first.

the cal update was the same file a dealer would have loaded to update the pcm, nothing to be concerned with.

There is no way for ignition to provide the calibration update to the device before you have plugged it into your vehicle, hence the need to update a 2nd time.
