stock stat fan temp

Post by stonewellmark »

I want to lower my fan temp settings on my 2010 silverado 1500 5.3. I have a stock t-stat. The reason is I plow with this truck and the temp guage will rise to the 0 in 210, and tranny temp will rise to 210-212, until fans come on. Any help would be great. Also, do i need to re-load stock tune first, then reload my 87 tune and alter temp settings? Thanks.

stock t-stat is 187* in that truck.. the fan temps can not be changed, only the amount of power that the fans run at, at hardcoded temps in the tune file.. can't set the power for anything less than 192*.. and the fan power is already bumped up higher than stock with the preset canned tunes.. but yes, you can adjust it more if you want..

no need to go back to stock first..

select the tune you want to install, modify tune, fans.. and from 2nd value, I think it's 197* if I remember correctly, set that one to 35%, then the next one to 55%, then the next one to 65%, then the next one to 75%, then the rest from there on up, to 95%...

Monte,
THANK YOU! Like I said, shortly after the fans are on (only guessing, because temps drop rapidly under consistant conditions) the temps drop to normal. Would you be able to do a tune with snow plowing in mind? I am pleased with the 87 tune and 4cyl. delete, just dont know what else to do with it. Again, Thank You!

I can definitely get you hooked up with a custom tune that will be better for you...

You can email me directly at: diablo DOT help AT gmail DOT com with your truck year, model, engine, any mods done to it, and which diablo tool you have, and I can send you a loooong email with info about the custom tuning, the process, etc..

Thanks man!
