Back up a tune to PC?...Tuner stability in Cold/Hot storage?

Post by BuffaloSS »

2006 Impala SS - u7191

IIRC, others have saved the Original Factory tune on their PC for safe keeping. How do you go about doing this? I ran DSDownloader and attempted to "get tune file from the Predator" and i get an error shortly thereafter. The Tuner shows the progress bar and reaches 100% pretty quickly, but the DSDownloader shows about 1/12 progress and then i get the Microsoft Error window asking me if i want to send an error report.

What am i doing wrong?

Also, how stable are these units in the cold or hot weather (for storage)? The Predator fits nicely beneath the flip-n-fold rear seat, but i want to make sure i'm not going to harm the unit should the temp drop below freezing in the car overnight or get too hot throughout the day. I've been keeping it in my house all the time, but it would be more convenient to keep it in the car should i ever need to have her towed to the dealer for issues possibly related to the tune.

You need to use the E40 interface to save the tune to the PC.

My Predator has lived in the car for about 4 years now in the Florida heat with no issues.
Just keep it out of direct sunlight.

Thanks

Ahhhh...maybe changing the download file to E40 interface would help here...i assumed the LS2 was for only the LS2 and i wasn't gonna try that until i found out what it was.
