MPG with i2 on 2012 F150 Ecoboost

Post by girthmccoy »

Truth in advertising...tuning noob. Pretty sure I have been through all the previous forums, but not having any luck finding what I need.

I hit the "I believe" button and got myself an i2020 for my 2012 F150 Ecoboost. I use it as a daily driver, and I wanted to get the best economy I can with CA gas prices. Not looking for a Prius, just better than 15 mpg. The truck is completely stock other than a little taller tires. Pre-tune, I was getting 17 HWY/14 city. With the MPG tune I am getting 16.5 HWY/13 city.

Questions in order of precedence:
1. Is there an appropriate amount of miles to drive before deciding the MPG tune isn't boosting my mileage? I know the computer usually needs a minute to "recalibrate" after any modifications.

2. Is the 87 tune a better option?

Like I said, not trying to get 30+ MPG. Just trying to squeak out a little better average MPG while I am living in SoCal and commuting 40 miles a day.

1. No, but it cant hurt to track actual miles at fill up and do the math to make sure its accurate.

2. Tough to say what will work best for you.

Did you have the taller tires when it was getting 14/17?
