2014 Hemi Ram MDS won't disable

Post by kirschenman »

Had an MDS lifter in my 2014 Ram go bad so just put regular lifters in and bought an InTune I3 platinum so I could shut off MDS. Same price, less hassle.
It seems like it is not shutting off though. I have tried to turn it off in the custom parameters and the star is always next to 'on' even when I change it to off and confirm. Or will this not change even if I change it to off?

I confirmed that it is still operating at idle by disconnecting a coil from the middle banks of cylinders (4 and 6) and the engine doesn't run rough. Disconnect an end cylinder (2) and it gets obviously rough.

I read someplace that sometimes the battery has to be disconnected to make the MDS work right (by not working!). Is that where I should at least start?

Attached the tune that is on the truck right now.

Thanks

I tried the battery disconnect this morning and the MDS is still operational from what I can tell.

its off....
Not sure how you are testing MDS at idle, but it never goes into 4 cyl at idle.

Ok thanks. So the tune is good. even though the star doesn't move to the 'no' or 'off' mark on the i3.

I unplugged the coil from two inner cylinders (4 and 6) and the engine didn't run rougher at idle. Then I unplugged from 2 and it got rough. I might have to look into other issues.

Thanks very much.
