i3 for Hummer H3....whrre's the transmission adjustments??

Post by MrC1 »

I just received the i3 and immediately updated it and went out to my Hummer to make some adjustments. I scroll thru the menu looking for the trans shifting tweaks, but there aren't any! WTH?! That's a big reason why I bought this thing and it was specifically advertised for this vehicle as having those adjustments. Not happy!

Many other gropes about this tuner, but that's the biggest.

tcm tunes should be there for sure.
Go back to stock and retune and see if it prompts anything about the tcm.
if not post the file called info.xml here from the i3 drive and we'll check it out.

restore the original backup stock tune to the truck..

then go through the install again.. go to Tune Vehicle - Advanced Mode....

then you can select the ECM/engine tune you want to install...

then it will ask you to select a TCM/tranny tune to install.... select the Firm Shift tcm/tranny tune..

then you can just continue on and install/apply the tunes..

or, when it asks you if you want to Modify the Firm Shift tcm/tranny tune, select yes, and you can go in and play with available the tcm/tranny settings...

Thanks, but my i3 isn't reading from the TCM, so I don't get any trans options. Learned this today after plenty of time on the phone with a few of you (thanks).

Now the problem is WHY isn't it reading the TCM? Nobody can figure this out.

then someone, or some other tune/programmer, has messed up/locked the tune on it, so that it can not be read or written...

So it's not an issue with the diablo programmer, I can assure you, because I have done tunes for hundreds of these Hummers, and noone has had any issues... so it's got to be an issue caused by a previous tuner/programmer/tune that is not allowing it to be read...

Is that a known problem? What I mean is, is yhat something that you've seen happen? I've never heard of a tuner having the ability to lock a TCM, preventing it from being readable. Doesn't seem possible.

I plan to have it reflashed by a dealer to the latest factory software rev. That should remove that variable.

This is not something I have ever run into before.
I worked with our techs yesterday to try to get this working and nothing seemed to do it.
The tool sees the tcm but wont read it.
I think the dealer update is the best option for now.

Thanks

Well, I discussed the issue with a GMC dealer today. They hooked up to my OBD and read the TCM without any problem. To be sure everything was right, I paid $159 for them to reflash it.

Unfortunately there's no change with the i3. It still cannot read the TCM. It acts exactly as it did before the reflash.

I wish I was close by so we could try plugging in another unit or one of your other brands to see if any of those would work. Please helpnif possible!

well they read the tcm...what do you mean?
The i3 is reading the TCM cals as well. It knows the tcm is there, its just not willing to do anything with it for whatever reason.
if they didnt update the tcm, then they didnt change anything :(

I think you missed the rest of my post above. They reflashed it as well. They found no issue whatsoever with the TCM, whether it be reading or writing to it.

My computer is down, but I can always revert back to stock so you can see the file. Please confirm and I'll do that again.

No need to go back to stock, just want to see the current info file so I can see if the tcm cals changed.

The reason I asked if I should go back to stock is I was told if I ran an update, you could see the file.

I have a new laptop on order. Should have it in 2 days....might just wait for that.
