I put a 180 stat in my magnum RT. I live in Coral Springs so you know the weather. I have been getting an engine light at least once a week and the Predator code indicates thermostat. Any suggestions?

What is the engine light for, go to diagnostics show trouble codes so you can get the exact code for the light.

Sorry I did not respond with the code. I cleared it just before you asked me what the code was and I was not sure. The light came on again and you are correct it is P0128.

The correct part number is, 4128. Since this one was given to me, by the same guy that sold me the Predator, I assumed it was correct and installed it. I am going to purchase another one and install to see if that clears the problem.

4128 is correct number for 180 t-stat, I believe from autozone. I have one in my car in orlando and never got a code, even when temps were in upper 40's

It will have 4128 stamped on it and on the other side it has Motorad stamped on it. It actually opens at 185* (or should). When you install it orient the bleeder hole up.

If the engine doesn't warm up to somewhere around 170* or over for some amount of time you'll throw the code. I think that may apply across starts too? You're not commuting like 2 miles to work and back are you? Watch the temp on your EVIC diagnostic display. Hold both lower, inside buttons down at the same time for about 8 seconds. Then use the up and down buttons to get to the screen with the coolant temp. leave that on while driving. Should look like this:

I just realized I did not orient the bleeder hole up. This was pointed out to me by one of the club members at Hooters on Sunday. I will open it back up and correct the problem. Hopefully that will take care of the issue.

I know it's supposed to be up but I don't know what the effects of being down would be. Don't know if the trapped air would effect the temp sensors?

You have a meat thermometer? When you re-install put it in a pot of water on the stove and see where it opens (and closes).

Mine doesn't even have a bleeder screw (NAPA 165). That shouldn't affect the temps.

I opened the thermostat back up and the bleeder hole was at the very bottom. Put the hole at the top and put it back together. I will let you know if it has any affect. Thanks Everyone
