i1000 works on my truck but not my magnum

Post by CarPalTomO »

So I bought an intune i1000 a while back and used it to load the 87 octane tune and change tire size on my 2001 Silverado 2500. That worked flawlessly and I couldn't be happier.

So today I unmarried it from the truck and connected it to my 2006 Dodge Magnum (build date of 2-06) after making sure the unit was updated using my Macbook air and the ignition program. I checked several times until it always said it was up to date.

I then connect it to my magnum turn ignition to on and the unit boots and then tells me that my PCM is not recognized and the unit needs to update. I run the unit through the updater a couple more times, each time getting the message that it is up to date. I connect the unit to my magnum again and still get the message that the unit needs an update for my PCM.

Now I turn to the knowledge base that is the diablosport forums. Any ideas on why my magnum won't take a tune from the intune? I can read and clear DTCs (there were none btw) and have not tried datalogging with it yet.

I will attach the info file for my unit.

I do use another program on my car called Appcar DiagFCA to enable Fog Lights as DRL and quad headlights on with highbeams, but I reversed all the settings to stock and tried the intune once more and got the same results.

I'm at my limit of knowledge with the intune at this point. I know that it had issues with early build 05 magnums but it shouldn't be having those issues with mine, at least I hope not ;-)

Any help/info is greatly appreciated. I will try downloading the updater on my windows 7 laptop and use that to see if any updates take, but I do believe the unit is as updated as they get for the i1000.

Thank you.

connect it to a pc and run the update agent software and it should pull the file it needs to update the vehicle then you can load that then tune it.

Thanks for the reply, Mike. I ran the update three times on my windows 7 machine and still got the same message on the intune. Am I doing something wrong? The unit has been used on several Ford vehicles by the previous owner. MAybe a factory reset and then update it would work? Is that possible without me having to contact Phone support?

I have also manually dragged the i1000 itf files to the root of the device, and the device updates but still get the message that the intune needs to be updated to work with my VIN.

I also downloaded the Dataviewer app and ran that on my Win7 laptop. I have some vehicle infor to share from it. It will read PIDS and DTCs just fine from the magnum.
