need diablo's opinion please...

Post by MuscleMan305 »

Heres my setup: 2007 Dodge Charger 5.7 (15,000miles) synthetic 5w-30 (with mds off via predator for extra protection against the Miami heat).

mods: flowmaster catback, oil catch can, 180 t-stat, high flow stock box air filter.

Predator 93oct canned tune moified: no mds, firmer shifts,mode1,6000rpm,idle+50 ( idles at 670rpm), EGR disabled, fans set at 190slow,200High

question #1: is this a safe idle or should i go with the 620rpm on the can tune? I felt a lil sluggish off the line with the 620 so i bumped it up to 670 and shes peppy as can be.

question #2: whats the ideal oil temp and engine temp to aim for that will have the best of both performance and street longevity? I keep hearing that 212F for oil because thats the boiling point of water and water is the enemy of lube and oil. what about engine temps? I also heard heatsoak slows this block down every degree over 200F, so what would u consider to be an ideal steady temp for city street driving? 192F or a lil warmer to 195F to save the cylinder walls and rings??
Once we can all agree on the ideal temp ranges, its just a matter of everyone individualy adjusting their tuner according to your local weather.

question #3: I live in FLorida and the 93oct up here is a 10% ethanol blend. do you recomend any changes to my fuel? I really dont know how this might affect the tune, but im sure its a possibility. Was this tune tested using this same blend of gas since i heard u guys reside in Florida also?

I love you guys for being so supportive to the modern Hemi crowd and I never fail to recomend the Diablo to any LX i see in the street. I've even told a few cops about it and one seemed so interested he wrote the website down lol true story.

1/ that should be fine, as long as it does not drive by itself as it will if you bump it too much idle raised will not cause any adverse effects.
2/ I think you have this one covered yourself, i did see a pretty hefty power loss with ect's going past 200 so as long as it stays below that i would say you are good.
3/We did all our testing using Mobil 93 octane, and yes we are in south florida as well.
He he, a couple of our beta testers where cops, they seem to prefer black Charger's, hmm wonder why....
