Updated my i2 and now says my ecu isn't supported

Post by astcyr »

Just doing the usual update to my i2 before swapping tunes on my truck and for some reason the WiFi update wouldn't work (should have taken a photo of the error... oops) so anyways I downloaded the update agent and get my i2 updated with that. The update installed with no issues so I went to change the tune on my truck. Now the i2 has an error popping up saying the ecu in my truck isn't supported and to update the i2.

After clicking continue to get past the error message the i2 shows the home screen and the easy tune and restore options are grey and unavailable to choose. Went through the advanced options thinking it might work that way but it will only install a TCM tune. I now worry my original ecu restore is gone cause after installing the TCM tune the restore option is available again but I had a previously installed tune when all of this occured.

If I plug the i2 in to the computer it says there are no new updates. How do I fix this?

So the i2 updated and now lets me apply tunes. My truck is now throwing error codes as seen in the photo below. I've tried clearing them and they don't stay cleared. I've also tried reapplying the tune and that doesn't make them go away. Also there is an initialization error that pops up when I'm applying tunes. This isn't something new and has never really been an issue but just thought I'd bring it up.

are you trying to adjust the tune when you get that initializing error?

The initializing error occurs just before the i2 starts applying the tune. Once I click continue it goes to the loading screen as the PCM is updated.

Called in to tech support today and I was told the error codes are likely to do with a bad connection? I disconnected both ecu connections today and inspected everything. All the pins were in good shape with no signs of any damage or moisture. I put the connectors back in, cleared codes only to have them come back again. I've never had any error codes since I've owned the truck until I applied a tune after the latest calibration update that fixed my i2 from the original problem in this thread. Can you guys take a look at the calibration for my unit again?

This i2 was purchased with the ecu since it's a 2016 ram 1500. It's the 5.7l hemi motor, sport package, in Canada. Not sure what makes a difference but let me know if you need anymore details.
