Programmed fan temp not "sticking"

Post by scottso699 »

Temp change for fans - Each time I go back to check it the value is 248 - like it was never changed. There is only one spot (normal as I understand) to change the temp I bring the slider down to 190 and hit save. Every other aspect you modify a parameter of, when you go back to it, it shows what it is currently programmed to - not the temp though. I am parked, the car is in park, the temp gauge says 210-212, I check and the fans are not on. Any idea why this setting won't stay at 190 when i set it? Is there a way to actually see what the current temp is set to? I'd imagine that if it actually was set to 190 that the fans would be on when the gauge reads 210?

thanks,

Scott

If your device is capable of custom tunes post your back up and last tune written, I'll adjust the setting in CMR and see if that'll do it for you.

Give this a go and see if she kicks on when you wanted it to.

Hi Michael - I loaded up the tune you created and it sure does work! The fan comes on full blast (High Setting I guess?) at 190 now. What temp is set to go off at? I guess now with the newer cars there is no way to set increments for low/med/high, right? I'd have the fan come on low at 190 and in some progression work up from there. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks again for helping me with this.

Try this one, I set High fan speed to kick on at 212 ECT and low fan speed will kick on at 190 ECT.

You da man! Thanks! I'll be sure to come back to you for a custom tune one day soon when I figure out what my ultimate configuration will be.

Hi Michael - another update after driving a week or so. From what I can tell, the fans still come on at high speed Almost as soon as the temp gauge reads 190. It never starts out as a low speed fan - it just goes into what I’d call tornado mode! I know it does have a low speed mode because I’ve seen it with the fan on in low speed mode before the car was tuned albeit at a much higher temp though. (Like 200+) the only time the high speed mode would come on would be if the temp outside was 95 degrees higher or if the A/C turns on. Any other ideas of how to get this all squared away? Again - I really appreciate the help!

Ambi set to mirror stock and high vehicle speed adjusted. Try it and let me know.
