I have a vortec supercharged 2001 Mustang GT. Mafia on setting 3 with Cobra MAF. Tuning with Advantage 3. Tuning has went ok until WOT tuning. When I’m WOT, the load instantly spikes from the steady 1.24 to 2.0 causing EXTREMELY rich conditions. How does the ecu calculate load at WOT? It is almost like something is failing, but if you let off the throttle it goes right back to normal. Scaled injectors and displacement, But is there any other airflow that needs modified? Tried on setting 5 and was getting the same result. I’ve burned 50+ try’s at this and am at a loss and really want this car done.
Thank you for any and all help with this.

Re: 01 Mustang Gt Spikes Load under acceleration
mafia is pretty simple to test, it should attenuate voltage coming out vs whats going in.
setting 2 and 3 are most common, rarely ever seen a need for 4/5 etc.
Is it pegging 5V at the MAF at WOT??
Reviewed the tuning notes here?

Thanks

Re: 01 Mustang Gt Spikes Load under acceleration
I have reviewed the tuning document. I got a pretty clean calibration without the MAFia and then installed the MAFia with the corrections as stated. The loads and trims were a bit off, so as per the tuning guide, I made another small correction and the trims and loads were very close to pre-MAFia. I performed part throttle testing to dial in the calibration at part throttle and made a couple of WOT short pulls to rough in the fueling for WOT. It wasn't until I ran to 6,000 rpms (890 counts) that the load spiked and fueling plummeted rich. The majority of the run, the load was 1.2-1.25 and then it suddenly jumped to 2.0 and the car felt like the motor let go it lost so much power.
Nothing in the tuning sheet says anything about the Load with Failed MAF tables needing corrected. If the Injectors and airflow is scaled, wouldn't this table also need work as it is telling the computer what the airflow is at each given rpm and load point.
thank you for your help Mike.

Here is the data log showing RPM and load.

Re: 01 Mustang Gt Spikes Load under acceleration
I don’t know why I didn’t do this before. Overlay of rpm, load, MAF counts, tps. Orange is MAF, dark red is load, yellow is rpm and light red is tps. MAF counts drop as load skyrockets, tps is constant. Is the MAF going bad? Wot At 6k rpm with no airflow would mean Extremely high load.....

Re: 01 Mustang Gt Spikes Load under acceleration
So, I bought a new Ford Lightning MAF. Set MAFIA to 4 (want to get to 15 lbs of boost eventually). Redid all part throttle tuning as original MAF was totally wonky. Did offsets like tuning guide said, was still off some so I offset a bit more. While stating WOT tuning 2500 to 4500 I noticed that the top of the pull kind of plateaued out at about 3.3 volts qfor about 200 rpm. Adjusted fueling and to see what would happen, ran to 5000rpm. Load dropped off from about 4300 to 5000 and the MAF stopped reading again at the same 3.3 volts. It looks like it is hitting the ceiling of the MAF. Isn’t that what the mafia is supposed to extend? As a test, I removed the mafia and retuned with the MAF only. Ran to 5k and hit the same ceiling this time at 4.8 volts at 4500 rpm. This is a 4.6 2 valve on like 7 lbs from a vortec supercharger. I got it to 360whp so far. The stock lightning MAF should almost handle this by itself let alone with a range extender. I don’t know if the mafia is messing up, but doesn’t appear so, but why am I hitting the ceiling no matter what I do?

Re: 01 Mustang Gt Spikes Load under acceleration
Id run it without the Mafia and see if thats the issue.
if it behaves normally (even if it pegs up top) I would say the Mafia has an issue...

Done tuned wonderfully to pegging at 4500rpms MAF only. She’s rowdy to that point and only has 10 def of timing

sweet, Id get a fresh Mafia on order.
That or one of the MAFS that are prescaled.
