DeTune For Dealer Work After PCM Swap

Post by ccolotti »

I should know the answer to this but I am totally brain farting.

I have the PCM swap in a 2018 Jeep TrackHawk with a custom tune.

If I tune back to stock and remove the security adapter will it essentially be "undetecable" that it was tuned or has a PCM swap? I have the original PCM but that's obviously more a pain to re-swap. I've got to have something looked at (long story) regarding a possible issue with these trucks transfer case or drive shaft and just don't want to run into some silly (it's tuned to it affected the drive shaft" BS.

yes, your plan is sound. Nothing about the mod pcm will get their attention.

Thanks Mike! I will just do the de-tune and remove the security adapter and go from there before we bring it in.

Mike I went back to stock then rememebr this P0600 code shows from our old original thread.

viewtopic.php?f=60&t=82557

I’ve loaded JUST you’re original “fix” file to suppress the code but this should still appear to be bone stock to the dealer? I can’t recall if the fix itself also had any parameters changed or if it was based off a 93 tune. Can you tell looking at the file in the other thread?

Trying to make sure they can’t say the “tune caused the issue”. Dealing with a good dealership and I’ve got the 7 year warranty but there is something possibly wrong with the transfer case or drive shaft hence why I want it “stock” less the P0600 showing which comes back if I do back to true stock. I think the fix you provided was after a 93 octane tune was the last file written but it was a while ago.

no worries, leave that tune loaded, and if they flash the pcm we'll just reset the tuner afterward.

Just coming back to this as it’s finally going in this week.

Are you saying leave the 93 tune on there with the fix file? Do we in any way think they can point to that as the issue? The signs put to a possible clutch issue in the transfer case which is electronically controlled

https://www.jeeptrackhawk.org/threads/s ... post-78625

So I just don’t want them to see anything and if they do flash the PCM with a SW fix of some kind how do we get that on a tune file later?

The sound is very mechanical but obviously if they find out it’s “tuned” they could bail out. I have the original PCM and was going to just swap it back but again I won’t know if there was a SW fix unless they say so. Such a pain :/

if you leave the tune loaded theres nothing they'll see that tells them its not stock.
