License needed or not?

Post by PaulMc »

I'm a bit of a dummy, so bear with me, as answers to my questions might be listed somewhere, I just can't seem to find them.

Current car is a 16 Charger Scatpack with a platinum i3 tuner. (8320-R) I bought a 21 Charger Redeye and will be trading the Scatpack once the car arrives.

Q1- If I return the SP to stock and unmarry the i3, will I need to purchase a new license to use it with my Redeye? I'm assuming yes, but everything I've read makes it sound like the license is for additional vehicles, not replacements.

Q2- When will the 21 RE tunes be available in the ignition updater? Currently only 2015-2017 is listed on the licenses page.

Q3- Is the bypass cable available for purchase without purchasing an i3?

Thanks for the help

1. If you return to stock it unlocks the device and its ready for use in another vehicle
2. 21 RE has been released, a license can be added anytime if needed. Not sure why there are year ranges on the licenses but they dont mean anything.
3. Yes, part 18-GBC, may have to give us a call to order it.

What if you sold your 2008 Charger R/T and purchased a 2007 Charger SRT? There's no possible way for me to return the R/T to stock as it is no longer in my possession.

So it is still locked/married to your previous vehicle... SO... You will have to buy an additional Dodge license for $149 to add to your inTune... and then you'd be able to use it on your 2007....

Thank you for the prompt response! I really appreciate it. Follow up question, the 07 SRT I purchased has an i2 installed. Is there really much difference from the i2 and the i3?

Again, thank you!
