E-mail tune

Post by Whynot »

Hey all, was wondering if anyone could reccomend a dealer for e-mail tune? I am stationed in Germany, and have some parts to install when I get back from Afghanistan. Intake, headers and the like, no cam yet or anything. I was wondering if someone that has gone this route, or anyone that had a could experience with a CMR tuner could make a recomendation. It is for an 05 GTO. Thanks for any help.

Same car here. I started with the 91 Octane Tune and have built upon it with every modification. Started with a local CMR tuner then had Johan (in-house Diablosport tuner) get past the cam tuning issues. Currently, I am learning more from this forum and have taken the opportunity to fine tune on my own using the Dataviewer and DSLogRedux apps. Next step is figuring out timing.

My CMR tuner experience was fine. Just make sure they have their CMR software current with all the patches installed. For convenience sake, I went to a second local CMR tuner and their software also was not current. I think it may have been due to not working with many GM's; they were more familiar with Ford's.

Before you start to get into the motor such as a camshaft and or heads install, the preloaded DS tunes on the Predator work well. I would only gain 2-4 more wheel horsepower with fine tuning on the dyno which started to add up as well as the cost each time. Any little bit helps and alot of the power increase can be done on your own with the mentioned apps above. Just be sure to learn how the Predator works and the concept of loading tunes. I, unfortunately, found out the hard way by locking my PCM but at least I took one for the team so a new CROM could be created.

Take your time, keep reading the forum, ask questions and learn correctly. Alot of the other fellows with deep modifications on the GTO forum tend to frown at the handheld but my goat makes more power than most using custom HPTuners or EFILive software. Oh, and its my daily driver and a few tenths off to be breaking into the 11's if the clutch will stop slipping.

Thanks man. I have been using the diablosport tune for about a year, and have made some small tweaks. I love what it has done for the car, but while deployed have ordered some parts. The headers are what I really feel the need to tune for. I guess I may eventually go with a wideband setup and try out HP, but the Predator has been pretty good to me, and I would like to stick with it for awhile.

Well, since I have had no luck tracking down a tuner willing to e-mail me a tune, does anyone know if there is enough adjustability in the U7191 to tune for headers and intake myself? Thanks for any assistance.
