smoke and fuel pressure Q's
Currently looking into the predator/puck stack, as well as a couple other programmer options. I like what I have read about your stuff/support.
First question is with the stack installed, will I be seeing some clouds in my rear view?
Secondly, I think I have read it before, but have to ask anyway, on the 2004.5 Ram 2500, will this stack be "safe" in regards to fuel pressures? I was not looking to upgrade the fuel system at this time, so I want to be on the safe side.
Thanks,
Pat

Depending on what tune you will be running, the extreme tune will puff smoke as you romp on it but will clear up if you stay in it. The other tunes will smoke a lot less.
We ensured that the stock fuel system supports the extreme stack combo, no need to upgrade as long as you run stock boost.

Anytime you stomp you will get a puff with the Predator! Even on tow! I have a 6 speed so that maybe the difference. I installed the towstack tune last night and wanted to feel it out before I switched the puck on. The towstack tune by itself still puffs some smoke but nothing like the plain performance tune or extreme tune. The extreme tune can cloud a WHOLE intersection with a little manipulation on my part!
On a different note a pyrometer is definately necessary on anything more than tow. I can hit 1500 degrees before I am pulling out of 4th gear on the performance or extreme tune with an empty truck! I have never tried the extreme stack tune since I just installed the puck last night!

reb0957,
I have a 6 speed as well. I was a bit worried that the Extream tune would damage the clutch. Have you had any issues?

Extreme TUne is a clutch killer if you are going to play with it!Herculou wrote:reb0957,

If I would stomp it in 6th at 60mph my RPM's would rise and then I would take off like a scalded ape! I first thought that RPM increase was the tires spinning but that original RPM spike was not accompanied by a change in SPeed! So, it was definately the CLUTCH! But If i would drive sanely and not STOMP the go pedal lto the floor it was OK! AGAIN need a pyrometer!
RE: Re: RE: smoke and fuel pressure Q
I had to have the pressure plate replaced @ 4500 miles on the truck (bad from factory) & I heard the clutch was the weak link in the dodge. So, this is really good info to have Thanks!

Re: RE: Re: RE: smoke and fuel pressure Q
this absolutely correct. the predator/ puck stack is a great combo. i love mine, but i would highly reccomend a pyrometer and boost gauge especially if your going to tow with it. i tow a gooseneck flat bed and even with the straight tow tune my EGT's were higher than i liked them to be. now keep in mind this is mostly if your towing. if your just driving its not quite as vital, but in my opinion if your going to put any aftermarket performance box on your truck, get gauges. you need to know what that motor is doing. if you see high EGT's and want to keep them under control buy a boost fooler. i did and it helped tremendously. good luck.reb0957 wrote:HERCULOU

I agree with fyrguy, $500 for a good egt/boost gauge setup is a cheap insurance considering the alternative.
