I have the DiabloSport DCX which I am using for my 2014 Dodge Durango w/ a RIPP Supercharger Kit, which of course has larger injectors and a need to change a lot about the ignition and fuel tunables on the vehicle. We have also swapped a 6.4L block/heads and we've put 9.5:1 pistons in that engine to handle the boost. Currently boost is around 8# and we're making about 550AWHP. Its not a lot of power, but it is a lot more than stock.
Anyway, Im seeing lovely electrical gremlins in the truck now. Intermittent headlights, dashboard, radio, and HVAC among the greatest. EVIC complains about low voltage, codes for high voltage are in system. EVIC complains that we need to service the shifter and that park sense has been disabled randomly. I'm also seeing the windshield wipers come on for no reason, out of the blue for a few passes. Anyway, seeing codes like P1C4E, U0140, U1424, U0100 and then in the ABS C2101-17 C212A017, U0100-00, U0402-00, U0401-00, U0413-00, and C121C-00.
I've got some feelers out but I feel like Im going to be headed into the dealership and they will at least flash current firmware onto the PCM at a minimum and perhaps even onto the TCM, BCM, or other controllers.
So firstly, what do I need to convey to the dealer? I doubt that the engine would run well with factory values in the tune. We've replaced injectors, added boost, added displacement, and reduced compression. IDK how much my tuner has done with the timing as well. If the PCM is flashed, will all of the settings from the tune return to stock? If so, I will need to be present while they are doing any flashing so that I can come in behind with the DCX and re-apply the tune. Also, do I need to actually return the factory / original flash before they even start work? Will I run into licensing and original flash backup issues if we do not? What if the PCM itself is actually replaced? I guess as long as they do it right, my original vin will be stamped back in , but will we need to take a fresh backup of whatever stock tune they provide and then ship it off to my tuner to have him layer the changes he made onto the new base tune? Also, I know that 2014 was the last year on the Dodge Durango that the PCM did not need to be replaced with an unlocked PCM in order to use the Diablosport Intune. Will a flash or a replace/replace of the PCM (if necessary) present any risk of basically bricking the truck until I can buy a suitable PCM?
Finally, and to help this be a sales call and ergo get some attention, are there additional settings that my tuner would have available to them if I were to upgrade to the i3 or the newer trinity? The DCX is slow and clunky and it doesn't have any way to display/play back log data and there are some issues with some of the PIDs rendering garbage (like system voltage? I usually see this at 0 VDC but my tuner gets the log and sees the real number?). Finally the DCX was unable to read ANY of the above error codes from the PCM and it certainly could not see the codes in the ABS Controller;. Does the i3 or latest trinity address this? The DCX just says I have 4 codes but does not give me the number or any description. I can clear them is the only thing I could do. I had to go to AutoZone and get them to scan the system
