Locked tuner

I appologize if this is a repeat. I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado 3500 LT Duallie with the Dmax. I just obtained a U 7180 tuner with the sticker # of 110337 on the back. I got the tuner, the OBDII cable in the box from my neighbor, the original owner. I want to use it on my truck but it was used on my neighbors 2003 3500 Duallie Diesel. What is the best way to unlock it. Should send it in to Diablo sport or is there another way that has worked for someone. I don't have a cable to hook it up to my computer (if there is such a thing)

That tool needs to come back here to be unlocked, (assuming the stock tune was restored to the other truck), but it is a free service to the original owner, but will cost $99 for a 2nd owner.

I appreciate the response. The tuner was purchased from a local speed shop who is no longer here in NY. He does not have the original receipt from 5 years ago. It was only used on my neighbors truck and never reset. He will send it back for me to save the $99 charge. What other proof is needed to show one owner or How do we prove it with out the receipt? Is it worth it if I pay the $99 charge, do I get a warranty/guarantee or updated programs that does not come with the free reset? If you can read the Vin # of the truck off the programmer, you can send back to that address I will send you a copy of the registration to confirm original ownership??? Thanks Again.

Without a receipt there will be a $99 charge to unlock/update the tuner.

Ok , That's easy enough. Where do I send it? Does it come with a warranty of some kind? Does it come with the latest tunes or is it done to 2003 specs?

There is no warranty on used tools.
The unlock will include any updates that are available, so you will have the latest tunes.

In your professional opinion. Should I go with the used one to save money ( I will give my neighbor $100) and pay $100 for the reset/upgrade or go new. Do you have problems with the old tuners? What would you do if you were me? Thanks alot for the info. I appreciate it.

I'm guessing you bought the 7180 , if you wanna unlock the predator yourself pm me and i'll send you a program that well reset it or drop the saved vin. for FREE.

I would like to be able to unlock an old one from my 02 duramax which I put back to stock and install it on my 03 duramax I have now but it is showing that it has been locked to my 02 still. Do I have to send it in or how can I unlock it myself? My email is: brent.cox@wilsontrailer.com

LOL.

These devices are archaic compared to current tuners, I wouldn't go through 1 minute of effort trying to unlock one for free....
