87 octane tune - what exactly changes?

Post by chops1sc »

I just installed the 87 octane tune with AFM disabled and hard shifts on my 2011 Silverado. I am liking it so far and I can't wait to see what else I can get out of my truck. I tow a camper (roughly 6600lbs) and this was the main reason for getting the tuner. I have been reading about the torque management and that the stock tune removes it. Will this affect the truck's ability to tow?

I was also curious what exactly gets changed with the stock tunes. I will likely reach out to Lew at some point for a custom tune. In fact, I already got info from him and I happened across a used unit so I jumped on it.

Thanks in advance!

the bulk of the changes are obvious stuff like timing and fueling, but theres also some pedal mapping changes on newer models, as well as the mentioned torque management changes, which wont hurt anything at stock power levels ;)
