New License for i2

Post by holschuh11 »

I’ve had my i2 for a while and recently got a 99 mustang GT so decided I’d get the i2 out and throw a tune on it. I updated the i2 from the laptop and purchased another license for it(didn’t see a brand specific license) I’ve gotten the license added but on the “more” section of the Updater it doesn’t show Ford tunes. When I try to tune the mustang it says “unable to determine VIN for this vehicle” Is the issue that the i2 is not showing ford tunes or is it a problem with the car itself? Thanks in advance!

you had a dodge i2, and bought a GM license ;)
Thats why its not working on a ford.

Update it 2x in a row and it should be good to go from there.

I was able to get it to update twice in a row but am still getting the “unable to determine the VIN for this vehicle” error message. Then offers to enter manually but stays on loading screen indefinitely.

I called and he sent a force update to my i2 and said that if it went through without crashing the device that it would work. It took till after 5 to update so we got off the phone. It finished updating and is still doing the same thing. If there is anything else I can do please let me know. Thanks

I'll inform the team that it didn't work and ask them to reach out.

I have read previous posts about 99-04 fords having an issue with no VIN in the pcm and customers sending theirs in to you guys to have the VIN added. Is this still a thing? I haven’t heard back from the team yet. I was told on the phone the other day that my i2 is outdated and that would make sense to me if I was putting it on a 2023 Mustang, but I am trying to put it on a 1999.

Can you give me the info on who to call or get ahold of? I’d really like to get this fixed so I didn’t just waste the $150 on a new license. Thanks

I have sent 5 different emails to the tech email and haven’t received any response.
